Funny…
The folks over at Strobist.com had a couple of very cool blog posts on lighting (I mean, aside from their usual posts on lighting. lol)
But seems they took the idea out of my head. :)
For months, I’ve been meaning to talk about lighting options in the podcast…seems the question that most people ask me is what type of lighting I use and what type of lights are the best.
There is no right or wrong answer to this. Every type of studio light out there has it’s pros and cons…and there are reasons why some are better than others.
You have to decide.
But it’s good to know what’s out there and what each one does.
Check out the articles…and stay tuned for some podcasts in the future that will probably repeat some of this information. :)
I had a GREAT weekend…the highlight of which was a shoot with my pal, Sol.
After our shoot, we got to talking…and she got me thinking about what I love shooting and why it’s so important to shoot things that you like and the stuff that you’re passionate about.

So it’s not surprise that one of my favorite shows on tv is a little ditty by the name of Glee.
Dude, it TOTALLY brings me back to my high school show choir days. Yes, I was a total nerd…but it was SO much fun singing and dancing with my friends. But it’s such a clever and witty show…and the music is phenomenal.
I just picked up the season 1 soundtrack on iTunes…I already had picked up their cover of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing…but I think what sold me is their rendition of Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked.

Not to mention I TOTALLY have a crush on Lea Michele, the actress who plays Rachel Berry…the cute, perky, yet quasi-nerdy lead. But damn, she can sing. *sigh* :)

So I dropped into the Hooters by my office in Rancho Bernardo and saw that my friend Codi, who works at the Hooters in Pacific Beach, is the November Hooters Girl of the Month for West Coast Hooters.

Very very cool.
Here are some more shots of Codi that we took a couple of months ago…

It was a terrible day, weather-wise..but we still got some amazing shots. Codi is awesome.
We also got some AMAZING shots at the Hooters shoot last month…but can’t post those just yet. Stay tuned. ;)
But in the meantime, drop on by to WestCoastHooters.com and check out shots of Codi and other ridiculously hot Hooters girls. :)
There are infinite numbers of ways to use the sun…
On this particular day of shooting, I tried 3 of those ways.
Here are some pretty pictures of Brianne…

And here are some with artificial light as my key light and a reflector as an accent edge light….

Some of the geniuses I talked about in the podcast…

In this episode, I lament the end of daylight savings time…and talk about the pros and cons of using a tripod.
They are cool. Really.

Okay, maybe not. :)
But maybe we can overcome the uncoolness.

Here is the video we did up in the snow, in case you want to check that out.
So, here’s another blog post about basically nothing. :)
I’ve pretty much been a blind four-eyes for as long as I remember…and I don’t think I really became completely cool until I got my first pair of prescription sunglasses.
This pretty much became a necessity when I started driving…and even though I would love to be able to buy and wear a normal pair of sunglasses, Lasik is a little pricey and contacts are annoying. There’s just something about shooting a laser into my eyeball or sticking a piece of glass in my eye. Both sound great in theory…but until you actually do it, it’s another story.
So instead, I opt for overpaying for a ridiculously expensive pair of prescription sunglasses. And because I want to be cool, I wear Oakleys.
Now, whenever I’m out and about, I carry them in this ridiculous steelish looking carrying case. People ALWAYS ask me what the case is since it looks like a bomb.
I assure you it’s NOT a bomb. Or a time capsule. Or any other futuristic device of mass destruction…
It just carries my sunglasses.
:)
