Breakfast with London and Tracy

Filed under: Friends, General, Random — Aaron @ 4:17 pm

Today was a lazy day. Last night, my pal London Andrews and her friend Tracy were in town modeling and needed a place to crash…so they crashed at my casa…after some pizza and a few crazy roommate stories.

Prolonging sleep as much as I could, I woke up mid-morning and we resumed crazy roommate stories, then headed to IHOP for a late breakfast/early lunch.

The strawberry pancakes were divine…and I enjoyed the fact that I was able to be sitting in an IHOP in the middle of the day. Who knows for how much longer. :/

I snapped this picture of London looking longingly at this palm tree just outside the restaurant on the side of the freeway. When I interrupted her gaze, she said it would be nice to sleep naked under that palm tree. I’m not going to disagree…but it might be hard to nap with all the cars whizzing by.

I was in strawberry pancake heaven. The only thing that would have made it better is if the pancakes were waffles. But alas, there is no IHOW…in a perfect world, there would be. And also, in a perfect world, London could sleep naked under that palm tree whilst I stuffed my face with waffles.

A glimpse of the future

Filed under: Crushes, Glam and Bam, Photo Shoots, Photography — Aaron @ 3:36 pm

Last week, I headed up to Aptera with Revolt to shoot the cover and Ten on 10. Woke up bright and early and drove up with the lovely Sarah Brown. It was a fun morning, even though the weather was not-so-pleasant. But we had a great time shooting with these futuristic vehicles. Here are a couple shots from the shoot…

Sunset glam

Filed under: Crushes, Glam and Bam, Lighting 101, Photo Shoots, Photography — Aaron @ 12:44 am

So, the weather has been AMAZING, hasn’t it?? The last few days have been sweltering…and I haven’t been motivated much…but hopefully that will change.

Last week, I had an AMAZING sunset shoot. The weather was nice…it got a little chilly towards the end…but nothing a little flavored vodka couldn’t cure. :)

The lovely lady was none other than Candace…a super sweet, super HOT Hooters girl from Mission Valley. She’s also the girl of the month for WestCoastHooters.com. Anyway, we got some amazing shots together…and are already planning another shoot.

But in the meantime, enjoy these shots…

The reason

Filed under: Glam and Bam, Photo Shoots, Photography — Aaron @ 5:06 am

Easter has always been my favorite “holiday.” More than Christmas, New Years, or Groundhog Day.

It was never about the candy or egg hunts or anything stupid like that. I hated egg hunts and I don’t eat a whole lot of candy. Although, the yellow Peeps were fun to throw at people.

I think Easter, for me, was a time of personal reflection. It was a time when I got to connect with myself, with my Savior, and with my family.

Well, this year just didn’t seem the same. It wasn’t the lack of festivity or anything like that…but just because I haven’t been in the right mindset. But whatever…

I am glad I was able to spend time with a special gal…

I scheduled a photo shoot today up in Laguna Beach with Laleh…we both decided that we would spend time with family early and since we had outgrown Easter egg hunts, we would take some hot pictures on the beach instead of hanging out at home. So we did.

Couldn’t have asked for better weather today. And we had a great time hanging…although, almost died when a big wave almost swallowed us up.

But we got some great shots. :)

The Top 10 Big-Brained Beauties

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 12:58 am

Smarties!

So, I’m continually surprised at the stereotypes that come into play in my job. Everyone has this idea that beautiful women are unapproachable, not-so-smart, party girls. Every guy I talk to tells me they envy my job, yet they wonder why I don’t get nervous talking to gorgeous ladies.

Let me say this: models, or beautiful women in general, are just people. They put their pants on one leg at a time. They have Cheerios for breakfast (at least the cool ones do…) and they have their not-so-cool moments too like everyone else. They are people…they are just hotter than the average person. And that’s okay, because it gives the rest of us schmucks something pretty to look at.

But even more than that, they are more than just good looks. Honestly (and I’m sure a lot of the girls clumped into this category would deny this…), most of the girls I shoot with are probably bigger dorks than I am. And that’s saying a lot, because I’m a pretty big dork. But I enjoy the dorkiness. I enjoy being stupid sometimes…and that’s why I love my job so much…because I get to know the real person behind the picture.

Aside from the dorkiness, a lot of models I shoot are hella smart too.

Yes, I said “hella.”

Seriously, I’ve shot with girls studying to be lawyers, doctors, teachers, girls that are into finance, management, etc. Sadly, I have to say, a lot of these girls are probably smarter than me. But you know, I’m okay with that. :)

Anyway, just thought I’d share that little deal…I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about this very subject…and I think a lot of people are at a disadvantage because when they look at a picture in a magazine or on tv, they see a pretty face…but don’t get to know the all the little facets that make that person so great.

So, when I saw this article online, I thought I’d share it. Goes to show that a girl can be beautiful and smart. ;)

Perfect sunset with Emily

Filed under: Behind the Scenes, Photo Shoots, Photography — Aaron @ 11:35 pm

Had an AMAZING photo shoot yesterday in Laguna Beach with my foxy friend, Emily. She was absolutely stunning…the weather was amazing…and the sunset was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. :) I even rocked the OC collar pop. ;)

My buddy Kyle came out and shot some ridiculously hot video of the shoot, which of course I would love to share with you.

Check it out…

Fun times in the desert

Filed under: Behind the Scenes, Photo Shoots, Photography — Aaron @ 1:04 am

Just got back from a 3-day trip to Sin City. Let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. My buddy Mike Crouch and I headed out on Tuesday morning and rolled into town and did some location scouting. After a killer dinner at the Rio, we did some LATE late night photography of the strip. We would have done more, but we were TOTALLY wiped.

The next two days were a blur…but we photographed 8 models in 48 hours. We shot at a cool dry lake bed, a sweet spot at Red Rock Canyon and a park in Henderson. Made some cool friends too.

The elements were against us…winds on Thursday reached 55 MPH at times…which made it near impossible to shoot at the dry lake bed. There was nothing but a huge cloud spanning the entire area. It was pretty nuts. We spent lots of time trying to cope with the wind and still getting great shots. I think we succeeded.

Anyway, good times…but let me just say that if anyone ever tells me that photography is easy, let me just say it’s not. We worked our ASSES off…and definitely earned our pay for the day.

Speaking of work, I’ve got a long day ahead of me tomorrow…shooting Melissa and Jason’s wedding out in east county. Should be fun, though. I will leave you with a few shots from our Vegas trip…more later, though…

First, let me just say I can sure rock the iPhone camera. :)

Here’s a shot of Lorin and Vanessa at Red Rock Canyon…

While Mike was shooting, Mimi (one of our models) grabbed my phone and snapped this one of me and Vanessa…

Mike has yet to join the technological age…and so he brought his entire desktop computer to work on images in our hotel room. Here’s his setup…

Seriously, get a laptop, bro. And finally, a shot of the mountains. Seriously beautiful…

Peace out, my homies. Stay tuned for pictures from the week.
