The Best. Day. Ever.

Filed under: Photo Shoots — Aaron @ 11:53 pm

So I spent the entire day yesterday up in Fontana, CA with the beautiful Laura Baker and her family. I cruised up in the morning and hung out for a little with her pop while she finished her makeup and then I took some headshots of a friend of her mom’s. Good times. After the headshots and a little mac and cheese (yum!), we headed up to the little graffiti wall down the street and took some pictures before the sun went down. Light was a little challenging, but had some help with the reflector…and Laura looks amazing in any light, really. But there were definitely some cool textures happening. Very cool location. We only got one look in…which just means another excursion sometime soon. Laura and I totally spell “trouble” …after the shoot, we drove around looking at other shoot locations and coming up with like a million ideas of stuff we want to shoot. It’s pretty nutty.

After exploring a little, we went shopping at Laura’s favorite store. We picked out a hot dress to shoot in too. :) Then, next door to Target, where Laura picked up a digital camera. Of course, it’s pink. Do you even have to ask? :) We worked up an appetite shopping, so the Baker ladies took me to dinner.

Anyway, it was a pretty chill day doing what I love and spending time with some of my favorite people. Here are a couple shots…

Good times.

The reasons why I love my Civic: part two

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 5:30 am

Screenshot_1 copy.jpgSo last week, I was heading home from the condo Danielle was renting in La Jolla. It was about one in the morning…

As I drove, I noticed a warning light on my instrument panel. It got me little worried, but I figured it couldn’t be too serious since this was a new car. Turns out, I was right… but something did need my attention.

It was a low tire pressure indicator. Can you believe that? My car was telling me that my tire pressure was low. In order to get the best gas mileage possible, your tires need to be inflated properly. And believe me, my car gets excellent gas mileage. It’s ridiculous.

Sometimes, I think my car is smarter than me.

Jungle Fever

Filed under: Photo Shoots — Aaron @ 1:25 am

Just now getting a chance to catch up on the blogging. It’s been a crazy last couple of weeks with all the traveling and shooting I’ve been doing…and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be letting up.

And I LOVE it!

Ever since I stopped going to work a few weeks ago, it feels as though I’ve been working TWICE as hard…longer days and more stuff to do. I LOVE setting my own schedule. I head out and do what needs to get done and I swear I’m getting more accomplished than ever before.

The only downside to that is that it feels like I have WAY more stuff to do. I have no idea how I ever got it done working 8-5 at a cubicle.

Last week kept me busy…but was pretty much amazing. Danielle and her beau, Gavin came down for some hangout time and some pictures. Danielle and I shot non-stop all week and we had a kick-ass time. I’ll post some pictures later…we snapped way over 1500 frames and we get to go through them now and pick the best ones. Fun, fun, fun! Anyway, seriously had a great time with them in town. :)

Yesterday, I shot ALL day at Balboa Park with Mike, Jon, and the beautiful girls of Eye Candy Entertainment. These gorgeous ladies are all local gogo dancers and models. Melissa, who I’ve shot before, was also there…and it was awesome to see her and shoot with her again. But we all had an AWESOME time and we got some smokin’ hot pictures. Here are a few of the first edits…

More here.

Anyway, I need to get back to work. No rest for the photographer. :)

Undies

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 12:36 pm

So I seriously wonder how many posts I have written over the years with the title, “Undies.”

Seems to be a very interesting subject.

Anywho…The Superficial.com just posted a little ditty on the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, which I highly endorse. So if you want some visuals, check it out.

Bright light city gonna set my soul on fire…

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:34 am

Well, I am coming to you live from that little city in the desert…Las Vegas, Nevada. We came out on Saturday morning and spent the weekend here to shoot the wedding of Sarah Gates and Chad Lozier.

The trip out was good and short. We were chastised by some weirdo in Barstow, but we laughed at him and went on our way.

For me, the majority of the weekend was spent in bed, because for some inexplicable reason, I came down with something. I felt totally sick to my stomach and didn’t feel like doing anything but sleep. But sadly, even sleep required too much work. Brian and Flor brought me soup and medicine and while they went out a little bit and explored, I spent the entire Saturday night in bed curled up in a ball. Definitely a bummer, since I LOVE exploring Vegas.

It’s also a good thing photo shoots never solidified since I don’t think I would have been motivated to shoot anyway.

Sunday came and I was feeling slightly better, but still a little weak. But I got to the wedding and did my thing. Shots came out okay, but I still don’t feel I did great…mostly because I felt terrible. But I got some great shots anyway. My duet with Mary was okay too. If anything, I LOOKED fabulous in my suit…I’m not gonna lie. :)

It was good to see people I hadn’t seen in a while and schmooze. Definitely a good time, even though I got tired really quickly. We stayed for the whole reception, until they kicked us out…which is definitely a first for me. :) After the reception, we headed out to the strip, still decked out in our suits and Flor in her dress…and we hit up the Venetian shops and walked around. I think we got a lot of attention since we looked so classy. Flor and Brian shopped for wedding bands…at another store, the clerk showed Brian a $5000 cashmere coat. When we scoffed at the price, he showed us a $1700 one…like that made a difference. :)

We also went and bought a couple cigars at the Davidoff store. The gentleman at the store schooled us on the finer points of cigar smoking and proper etiquette. It was quite educational, and very classy.

I called it an early night and from what I remember, I think I went to bed pretty instantly. :) It’s now Monday morning and I’m getting ready to pack up and head out to lunch with some people from last night and then head home. It’s been an okay trip, but I definitely think I need to come out again soon to make up for all the sick time I missed.

More adventures with Laura

Filed under: Photo Shoots — Aaron @ 2:36 pm

So I kid you not, I LOVE shooting, creating, and hanging out with Laura Baker. She’s seriously the coolest chick EVER. But seriously, we have so many ideas and schemes, it’s not even funny.

Well, maybe it’s a little funny. :)

We spent the majority of yesterday shooting…we started in the morning at Essence Digital shooting our shoe series. This girl owns every pair of shoes known to man. And I thought my sister was bad. But I think the shots came out SO cute.

We also got some other super cute studio shots:

After shooting at the studio, we met up with Ennis and then we headed back to Fontana up to Laura’s house and shot at this rocky, abandoned lot with tires. Pitch black…but we got some amazing stuff..

After the shoot, Laura and her mom took Ennis and I out for burgers and pie. SO good! It was so good, Laura rang the bell.

We are seriously the coolest people ever. No lie.

DC at night

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 11:38 pm

Tara and Aleck took me around the capital tonight…that is, after an AMAZING enchilada dinner Tara whipped up. SOOO GOOD!

Anyway, it was raining downtown and we didn’t want to be out all night and wet…but we managed to get some great shots around town…and had a lot of fun in the process. It’s sad to think I’m leaving in a few hours…but I will definitely come back soon. DC is a LOT of fun…beautiful place. And of course, I have one of the best cousins and cousin-in-law ever…so I’ll have to come back and visit. :)

I’m getting to bed to get a few hours of sleep before leaving in the morning, but I leave you with some shots from the evening.

DC

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:25 pm

So I have to say that I’m having the BEST time out here visiting Tara and Aleck. DC is probably one of the coolest places I’ve ever visited.

Last night, we met up with this super cool gal, Heather…a friend of Tara and Aleck’s who works with Aleck…and we met a bunch of people downtown. We took the Metro into Chinatown and hit some of the hot spots…it was pretty much an awesome time.

Had a chill morning hanging with Aleck today…then in the afternoon, Tara, Aleck, Heather, and I headed out on a photographic adventure. We had an awesome time snapping post-wedding wedding pictures all over the place. They are seriously the Cutest. Couple. Ever. And here are the photos to prove it…

After photos, we went out to this killer restaurant, Rosa Mexicano…seriously, some of the best food. :) Good times…definitely good times.

After watching the Food Network and chilling, they headed to bed since they work tomorrow. :( But I thought I’d share some pictures and watch a few episodes of The Office. It’s only like 9:30 Pacific Time. :)

Anyway, more adventures tomorrow. Planning on sight-seeing, a little night photography, and Tara’s making enchiladas! Woohoo! ;)

Wire-less

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 7:22 am

So this is cool…free wi-fi at the airport. Who would have thought such a thing would be so great??

Well, folks, I am sitting in the terminal waiting for my flight to Washington DC, which should be leaving in about 40 minutes, but I just wanted to write really quickly. Mostly, since I can. :)

Had a great shoot yesterday with this gal named Sharon. Super sweet. Super cute. I’ll post some pictures later this weekend when I get the chance. Later in the evening, shot a few frames with Mike and Jon of Brittany and her friend, uh, Brittany. Sort of confusing, but a fun shoot nevertheless. Again, I will post pictures later this weekend.

I realize that this post is pretty pointless with out pictures, so I hope you will forgive me and overlook the absence of actual visuals.

Okay, I think they are boarding now, so I’m signing off for now. Check in later!
