• Finally…

Some pics from the weekend. I was one busy guy. Here are a few edited samples:

    Fried Pickles

Dude, I totally want some. :)

So this weekend was pretty much crazy and I’m ready for a nap. But I wouldn’t have traded a second of it. Here’s how it all went down…

Friday night, I hit up Hooters with Doug. We got there just in time for happy hour, so we indulged in fried pickles (my first time…) and some nachos. There is nothing like fried food and cheese sauce. Mmmm… Also got to meet Shayln, so that was pretty cool. After Hooters, Doug and I walked to Cabo Cantina in PB and had a few more rather large beverages. It was pretty crazy there…definitely a good time.

Saturday morning, I woke up early and headed out to Windansea. I ended up being out there pretty much all day and got some sun…even though the weather report said there was a 40% chance of rain. 40% my butt. The water was so blue and it was one of the most gorgeous days I have seen. A little on the chilly side, but not by much. I shot two gorgeous girls, Courtney and Mari, and had a great morning shoot. The girls were even asked by another photographer if they would pose with some retired military dudes. It’s tough being so ridiculously good looking.

The afternoon session was just as crazy fun as I was shooting Heather, Liz, and Marisa…who are all pretty much the coolest girls ever. We did a wham-bam-thank you ma’am shoot since we pretty much knew what we wanted. I think the shots came out pretty good…my only complaint was the lighting and I think that was pretty much me…well, me and God. But we got some good shots anyway. After the beach, the girls took me out for my birthday to Cabo Cantina for lunch and drinks and I had a great time chilling with them.

Sunday morning was a little chilly…but it was gorgeous out in Alpine where my next shoot was. I photographed Lauren, a beautiful model whom I’ve worked with before. We shot at this gorgeous lake and it was pretty much one of the prettiest places I’ve been to. We shot a few different looks and got some good ones in. Her friend, David, was there and I snapped a few of him for his portfolio as well.

The afternoon was a little colder. I was going to stop for lunch, but there was no time…I grabbed some Craisins and headed out to Windansea for my fourth and final shoot of the weekend. Let me just say I hate the 52 ramp from the 15. Not only do they not post the signs far enough away to warn you it’s coming up, but I just miss the exit 1 out of 5 times. I think this time I missed it because I was thinking about ways to get out of work. :) But anyway…I got there a little late, but that was okay since one of the girls ran out of gas and was running late too. I sat on a rock and watched the waves until Heather showed up for moral support and we pretty much chilled for 40 minutes until the other girls showed. I shot with Stevie, Shayln, and Emilie and the shoot rocked, despite how cold it was. Love those girls, though. It was my first time shooting with Emilie and Shayln and they are pretty cool girls…and this was my fourth time with Stevie…so shooting with her was like breathing…we don’t even have to think about it anymore, we just go at it and it works. She’s an awesome model and a REALLY cool chick. Anyway, after the shoot, the sun started coming up…which pretty much sucked for us…but we got some great shots in. The girls and I headed to Hooters since Stevie was working and we all had a late lunch. Doug met up with us too and we had our fill of fried stuff and cheese. Can’t go wrong with that.

Anyway, I’m sore, exhausted, and got a TON of stuff to get done in a little amount of time. I was multitasking like crazy last night getting photo disks ready and editing the wedding (which is going amazingly, I might add…). But this was definitely a kick-ass weekend.

Anyway, it’s going to be another busy week, what-with turning 28 and all and all the other stuff that’s happening. But I’ll be sure to keep you posted. Oh, and I’ll be posting pictures from the weekend too when I get around to it. Stay tuned for that as well!

    Following your dreams

So I was listening to Channel 933′s morning show yesterday and they were talking about dream jobs. A sad statistic, really: only 15 percent of people actually have a job that they love and that they would call their “dream job.” Which means that the other 85 percent of schmucks, the category that I fall into, have crappy jobs that they go to everyday. 85 percent fight traffic every morning to drive to a place they don’t even want to be…and then spend 8-10 hours there.

And then I noticed something else. Usually, I have my iPod going when I’m showering in the morning. But today, for some reason, I actually was singing along. I usually never sing along to my tunes in the morning…especially at 7am. But I guess the fact that I’m going to be photographing beautiful women today has put me in a slightly better mood than usual.

But honestly, if I was photographing anyone and not having to drive to that miserable place I call the “W” everyday, I think I would sing more often.

Okay, gotta get going to the beach and I still have to grab my coffee. :)

    Seventy five. Forty eight. Nine.

Okay, so how lucky am I? I walked out to lunch today and the gorgeous sun and warm air awaited me. It feels like summer. I just wish I had on my shorts.

So not only is it 75 degrees in the middle of January…but this weekend, I’m photographing nine — yes, NINE — absolutely gorgeous girls. Nine was what the count was up to as of last night. :)

    48 hours. Nine girls.

    Go ahead and hate me.

    I heart Mandy Moore

    She’s on Letterman now. :)

    *sigh*

    So cute.

    Good times…

Thank god the weekend is here. :)

Headed downtown after work and hit the HOB happy hour with Doug and a couple other cool dudes. After a few drinks and ordering the entire left side of the menu, we went to a surprise party at Ben’s for a friend of Doug’s. They were all co-workers from Fox 6, so I got to meet Ruben Galvan from Fox in the Morning and Maria Arcega-Dunn. If I had the balls, I would have introduced myself to Chrissy Russo, who was also there. I was in the SAME ROOM with Chrissy Russo. She was mere feet away from me. Crazy.

At around 8, I headed up to PB and had some wings and a few cold ones with the Nice Guys, Brian and Danny. It was pretty dead…but Heather and Stevie were working and it was super sweet to chill with them a bit.

I even got the Chocolate Mousse Cake. So good! :)

After Hooters, we headed to North Park and endulged in some wine and conversation at Wine Steals and finished up the night at Alibi. I’m surprised I can remember all of that considering…

Anyway, good times. I know it’s not my birthday yet…but I dropped a few hundred on a new camera yesterday because, you know, I don’t have enough cameras. I picked up the Canon SD630…you know, the sexy camera in the commercial with Maria Sharapova. It’s pretty flippin’ sweet and takes some great pictures too. So check them out in the Picasa Gallery.

    Excruciating pain

So I just walked into my pitch-black room and ran into a big crate in the middle of the floor. I whapped myself right in the shin. It hurts like heck. It wouldn’t be so bad if it were for that damn kid, Steve … who in junior high, thought it was a good idea to take his tennis racket and whap me in the shin with it. Maybe he was jealous of my smooth moves and luck with the ladies.

    Nebraska?

So I’m coming to you live from the Jack in the Box on Mission Center Road. I’m waiting for my Ciabatta, so I thought I’d chat with you fine people.

So here is my random thought for the day: are there hot girls in Nebraska? I ask because I pulled out a quarter to pay for my Union Trib and it was a Nebraska quarter. Being that I’m a nerd, I will most likely head over to Wikipedia and read about Chimney Rock.

Okay, burger is ready…I’ll talk to y’all later…

    What is wrong with me?

…I was watching the 2006 Hooters Beauty Pageant just a little while ago and believe it or not, I actually ended up changing the channel. Could it be that somehow I can’t watch scores of beautiful women parading in swimsuits for prolonged periods of time?

    No … I don’t think that’s it.

Do you know what else is wrong with me? I noticed a little bit of a trend; I seem to always fall for girls that are totally wrong for me. Not sure why that is, but it’s starting to get on my nerves. Wait; have I mentioned this before? Yes, yes, I think I have.

In other news, I wrestled with a Christmas tree today … and won. I am so the man. And after two hours of the vacuuming, I think the apartment has returned to normal. I do need to vacuum my car, however. Perhaps in addition to the pine needles, I can also suck up the hay from Saturday’s shoot and the sand from the shoot eight weeks ago.

    Well, CSI: Miami calls …

    Role reversals

So chivalry is not dead. I went to lunch today and as I approached the door to Sombreros, a really attractive girl was walking up as well. She was a brunette, tall, gorgeous, and leggy as they say.

    You know…They. Them.

Now, being the gentleman that I am (my momma done raised me good, after all..), there are two things you can do in this situation. You can start walking slightly faster (fast enough to get to the door first but not too fast that it’s obvious you are walking fast) in order to open the door for the lovely lady. Or you could approach the door at the same time, but let her open it and walk through first. In this situation, I opted for the latter.

But to my shock, she opened the door and waived me through. I wasn’t prepared for this new third option. It was all very strange to have a beautiful girl opening a door for me. So I went though…

…and I have a feeling she was staring at my butt the entire time too.

So then later, I’m eating my beef enchilada and I see another fairly attractive girl sit at the table across from mine. She was alone and all she had was a carne asada burrito. Original. So I continued eating and emmersing myself in my WikiPedia article and I noticed she got up. I didn’t think anything of it until she came back to the table a few minutes later with a tray of carne asada fries. Now, by no means was this girl a big girl. But man, she was putting down a burrito AND carne asada fries…that’s more than I can eat. And I’m a large dude.

So that’s my lunchtime story for the day.

    Kaua’i and Kansas

I am finally getting around to posting some of the clips from our Hawaii trip last year. Here is the first of antics on the way to the islands…

Brian and I notice a hot girl with writing on her pants. And we enjoy the view. But not before getting getting ripped off. Airport food is sooo overpriced, we were thinking about opening our own little shack and selling food. We would make a killing.

After breakfast, we sit in the terminal for what seems to be forever to hop the plane to Honolulu…we contemplate going to Vegas instead, but decide that Hawaii is much better.

    Saturday, behind the scenes

I always like getting behind the scenes shots at photo shoots. I try to keep my shoots fun and we always get some funny outtakes. It’s hard to get good BTS shots without my faithful friend and assistant, Brian…but when I do, I always like posting them. Considering that it was so cold and a great photo adventure, I thought I would post some behind the scenes shots from our shoot yesterday with Ashley.

    Check it out.

    A Perfect World

I seriously love watching Monk. I thought this little promo that USA put together was worthy of sharing.

    Out of our minds

So yes, friends…it is official. It did snow this morning. And I was standing in the middle of it…wearing shorts and a t-shirt…taking pictures of a girl in a bikini.

Here is the news from tonight:

Ironically, the lady with the scouts that was interviewed is our next door neighbor from up in Ramona. How funny.

    Freezing our @^$# off

Well, my good-weather-for-photo-shoots streak is officially over. But man, what a way to end it! :)

I woke up at the buttcrack of dawn and headed back home to Ramona this morning to photograph Ashley…this amazing and gorgeous girl from my hometown. It just so happens we were both in the same choir in high school (not together, sadly). And she is one crazy girl…but one of the coolest models I’ve worked with. Literally. Not everyone would be excited for a 7am photoshoot…but even more than that, not everyone would be excited to put on a teeny bikini in 31 degree weather. Yeah…a bit chilly. I think we even saw a few little snow flakes at one point. It was definitely one of the craziest shoots I have ever done…but definitely one of the most fun. We will be shooting again soon…but hopefully the weather will be a tad warmer.

After regaining feeling in my fingers, I thought I would share some pictures from the shoot…
