The hottest dork ever

Filed under: Crushes — Aaron @ 8:37 pm

Kristin CavallariI haven’t had a crush in a while…but I assure you that I haven’t lost my touch. I’m still the girl-crazy boy you have come to know and love.

Actually, I was surfing the web and found the perfect candidate worthy of being one of my crushes. She is the only reason a man of my intelligence would ever endure 30 minutes of pointless and cheesy drama. She is the one and only…Kristin Cavallari.

Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking…she has her annoying attributes: for instance, her voice…but you can’t overlook the fact that she’s hot. And according to her recent appearance in Blender, she’s also a “big dork.”

Yeah, right.

I first fell for Miss Cavallari during her days on MTV’s Laguna Beach. Sitting through an entire episode is enough to make one vomit…but I made it through and kept coming back for more. Yeah, the drama is addicting….but it’s also nice to have some eye candy like Kristin.

Anyway, that’s all I really have to say about that. Oh, one more thing…if my roommate is reading this, I will definitely be stealing your copy of Blender. *grin*

Check her out in the September 2006 issue or here.

You Break, You Buy…[from Asia Pacific Arts]

I’m a huge fan of Glimore Girls, which is why I thought I would share this cute, well-written article from Asia Pacific Arts regarding two great, quirky characters on the show: Lane and Mrs. Kim. See what they had to say…

Coffee with Mo

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 3:30 pm

Starbucks cupI just got back from having coffee and conversation with the wonderful Simone Finney. It was SO good…so good to see her (she looks amazing, by the way…). We talked about life, about travels, about Disneyland. I bought her chai. The time went too quickly. It’s SO awesome to see God at work in her life and to hear about all the amazing things going on.

Friends that can make hours seem like minutes are rare. I look at the picture of her that’s sitting on my desk and already I miss her like crazy.

Black and white

Filed under: General, Random — Aaron @ 12:18 am

So I’m sitting in my room and it totally smells like a grilled cheese sandwich gone totally wrong. I have no idea what the roommate was doing before I got here…but I have a sneaking suspicion he’s behind this odiferous scenario.

I’m sitting here putting finishing touches on a video I should have had done a year ago…but being the chief procrastinator I am, I am still working on it. It will be done soon, though, and I can finally move to the next chapter of my life. It shall be a glorious day. Angels will sing, a heavenly beacon of light will shine down from the sky.

Speaking of beautiful things, it was a gorgeous day today, folks. Unfortunately I slept most of the way through it. But what I did see was absolutely amazing. No photo shoots this weekend…but I should have booked at least one since it was so amazing outside.

Those of you not in San Diego, feel free to be a little jealous. ;)

So most of you probably know I love photography. I am a photographer, after all. :) I love everything about it…the very essence of it, capturing one single moment in time for all eternity. Being able to stop time for just one second…and being able to take that moment and put it in your shirt pocket. There’s something magical about it all.

Tonight, my grandma was showing me some pictures she had found buried in a box. They were old, slightly faded, sepia toned. The edges were ear-marked on some and most of the people in them were people I had never met. They were old family pictures. My dad was small enough to fit in my grandpa’s arms. My uncle had the same looks and expressions that I can remember. My grandpa was a big, buff dude. My grandma was young and beautiful…even with the HUGE, goofy sombrero on her head. I’ll definitely have to get a copy of that one…soooo internet worthy. :)

Everyone looked so serious…it’s funny how no one smiled back then. My grandma says it’s because taking pictures back in the day was an ordeal…and by the time the shot was taken, no one was in the mood to smile. Can you imagine working with models back then?

It was a different time…but the time is secured forever on a tiny 3 by 5 frame of paper. And here I am a half a century later sharing in those moments…and laughing at my grandma’s sombrero. And you know what?? It’s still magical.

Leave me a message after the “meep”

Filed under: General, News, Tech — Aaron @ 11:09 pm

Google TalkAlong with Skype, Google Talk is definitely a cool communication program that allows you to instant message and call friends all over the world. Now, if that person isn’t available, you can leave them a message … which is sent to the person’s email as an MP3 audio file. You can listen to it in any browser, or download to your computer. How awesome is that?

So seriously, download Google Talk and leave me a message after the meep. My address is my name – aaron dot riveroll at gmail dot com.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The last few days of freedom

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 11:19 pm

Well, the roommate is back, therefore my days of apartment freedom are now over. But, my last few days were pretty decent. I spent most of the time finishing up the video for Eastlake high school’s choir. I gotta tell you, editing that video brought back a lot of memories from my show choir days. Good times …

It’s definitely been an enjoyable experience working on that project. Looking forward to doing a lot more with their choral music department. They are truly outstanding.

I got to go to the Padres game yesterday afternoon, thanks to the Finneys (thank you so much!). It was a little warm out, but there was a nice breeze. Typical San Diego weather. The seats were amazing, so I got some great shots (and a little sun :) ):

I took off a little early since it was probably the longest one-run game I had ever seen; but just as I left the park, the crowd erupted with cheers. Turns out that Brian Giles, who hadn’t been able to hit anything the entire game, managed to knock one out for a two-run home run. Just my luck that they were able to turn it around and win the game. I had an awesome time while I was there, though … and it was a welcome vacation from all the editing I’ve been doing.

That’s all I have to say now. More later.
