My weekend (in 30 seconds)

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 12:02 am

I feel like doing my best Tom Cruise impersonation and putting on a white T-shirt, socks, and my NGS boxer shorts and sliding around the floor singing and dancing. I’ve got the place to myself for the next seven days … and although it might be lonely, it’s going to be glorious!

My roommate, Josh, said his “I do’s” yesterday to new wife, Melanie. It was weird, but I think for the first time I actually saw the transformation from being a single guy and turning into a married one. I go a lot of weddings, but it’s the first time I think actually seen a person change; like putting on a new coat. It was a nice, small ceremony with an equally charming reception in La Mesa with family and close friends. I saw some people I hadn’t seen in a while, so that was nice. Although the weather outside was pretty muggy. everything turned out pretty nice. Congratulations Josh and Melanie!

And Brian’s out too … he’s on vacation with Flor for the next week. The two of them are taking a Mexican cruise, so they will be out at sea for the next several days. Before shipping out, however, Brian assisted me in a photo shoot this afternoon with lovely Stevie and her good friend Jessi. We had planned on doing some casual and swim wear, but only get around to doing the casual, which personally is fine by me. We’re planning on another shoot down the road … but this one was pretty fun. It was the first time meeting Jessi, but I had a blast shooting with her and her pictures came out fabulous. And Stevie just has this great, playful personality that comes out in her photos. I love shooting with her. So I’m definitely looking for to the next shoot with both of them.

And now, the bane of my existence … editing this video. I must get back to it now, since it has stopped rendering. I’ll write more later …

Talkers

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:09 pm

So, I went to Cingular the other day to find solutions for my cellular telephonic communicatory device. You see, my cell phone’s battery has been rapidly losing power as of late. The phone dude sold me a brand spanking new battery because he told me that after a year or so, the battery starts to lose its charge. So sad for the battery, really.

So now, I have a brand new battery in my phone and … it’s still losing power. Could it be that I am so stinking popular that I use my phone all the time? Could it be that I rack up minutes and text message like a fiend?

Yes, I think that is what it is.

PS This is just a side note, but, those of you that are Seinfeld fans will be interested to know that the guy that sold me the aforementioned battery was a low-talker.

The red thong

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 6:35 pm

So, I’ve procrastinated way too long. Let me tell you about the panties…

So I think I mentioned the dude that lives in my apartment complex and parks 2 cars over from me with the light blue, lacy boy shorts hanging from his rearview mirror. I have to admit, I was a little jealous … I, too, wanted panties hanging from my mirror. The only problem is, I just don’t know any women classy enough to just donate panties for the cause.

So last week, my good friend and ridiculously hot Sacramento buddy, Janelle, was in town and I played host and showed her the many wonders of San Diego. Somehow, she got wind of the panty story and wanted to help us one up this dude with the blue panties. It’s nice to have female friends like that. :) So, we did a little panty shopping. And then we went to the beach to watch the sunset. It was pretty.

We ended up getting a black lacy pair for Brian (you know, to match his car) and red mesh thong for mine (to match my car). So far, the reactions have been very limited here in SoCal. Perhaps we see more underwear than most people? I’m not sure about that … but driving to Sacramento, we got quite a few reactions including other guys nodding their heads at me in admiration and checking out the girl in my passenger seat (who just happened to be Janelle), and a taxi driver who felt it necessary to tell Janelle that if she didn’t take her feet down off the dashboard, the air bag would, and I quote, “snap those legs like twigs.” I personally think he was envious of the fact that I had a beautiful woman sitting in my car. I also think that he wanted a pair of panties hanging from his mirror instead of the nasty, year-old, pine-scented air freshener he had hanging from it. Remember, taxi drivers need love too.

So anyway, I have been driving around town for the past two weeks with a pair of panties hanging from my mirror. And I have to say that it makes me feel like a real man.

Weineys and Panties

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 12:51 am

So I am back from my fabulous weekend in Sac. I’m a little tired, but not much. I made pretty good time, only stopping once for gas. I made the tragic mistake of taking the 5 instead of the 99 back home…some say that the 5 is a little shorter, which may be the case…but we made great time going up and taking the 99 that I think I may start going that way. Besides, there are more fun things to see along the 99. Oh, and I was stuck in traffic coming back because of this HUGE fire along the 5. I think I was crawling about 3 MPH for about 35 minutes. It was insane.

Anyway…today, after my blogging and shower, Janelle and Meg woke up and they got ready so we could go out. We ended up doing nothing, really, but hanging out (since it was so hot to do anything else) and going to WalMart. The girls showed me the amazingness that is Hagen’s Freeze, which was a dream. :) We went home and watched a couple episodes of Lost with Kiwi before Janelle had to get to work. I thought it would be a good time for me to skip out too, even though it was a painful goodbye as always. It’s always amazing difficult to leave those guys.

I’ve mentioned several times before in this blog of trips to Sac and sad goodbyes and all those things that you may find too cliché or whatnot. You might be thinking that I might be over dramatizing or exaggerating the impact of the farewells. Let me just say these two things: first, I love San Diego. I have lived here all my life and would never dream of leaving. The weather is perfect, the people are great, and it’s just an amazing place to live. But if I could, I would totally move to Sacramento just to be close to the great friends I have up there. And second, I hate driving. There aren’t a lot of people I would drive 500 miles to be with. And there you go.

I think I’m going to get to bed now. I fully intended on writing about the panties, but I am too tired. I’ll share tomorrow. You’ll just have to wait until then.

Oh so much booze

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:13 am

Well, I am coming to you live from Sac-town…and sitting in the living room of Casa Weiney. I smell toast. I think Kiwi is rustling up some breakfast as she is currently the only other person in the house that’s awake. I’m actually still sleepy.

Dude, Sacramento is a freakin’ OVEN! I kid you not. Seriously, I’m used to hot weather being from Ramona and all…but it is seriously baking outside. It’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I think we drove by a bank yesterday on our way to grab some lunch and the sign said that it was a cool 115 degrees. Yeah. And even with the air conditioning on in the house, we were all still pretty sweaty. M’mmm, doesn’t that sound yummy!

Anyway, after arriving yesterday at around 1 in the afternoon, Megan and Janelle and I went to lunch and had the most fabulous meaty salad. I know, sounds like chick food…but the meat really does make it a little manly. Oh, and on a side note, I think I came to Sac on the right weekend…we must have seen like 3 different carwashes going on for support of local cheerleaders. :) I would have contributed to the cause, but since Meg owes me a bikini car wash, I think I will just hold out a little longer.

After lunch, we drove out to CostCo since, well, 7 hours of driving isn’t enough. After acquiring booze and a shiny new iPod for Meg, we headed to BevMo and got even more booze. You know, since there were like three of us, we needed all that booze, right? So back home, we just sat around and chilled for a bit, which was actually rather difficult since it was so hot outside. After some pizza and a whole lot of beverage, we decided to have an impromptu lingerie photo shoot. After all, I do have cameras…and I am a professional, after all. However, I am a guy, so I did enjoy it too. :)

I think we all crashed at midnight, which is a miracle for Meg in itself. And now, I think I’m going to shower and start the day since it is like almost noon and I will have to be departing this wonderful place in just a few measly little hours. But I’ve had a good time, as always. Always good times. More later…

Oh, sorry…that was just my head hitting the keyboard.

I am sooooo tired, it’s not even funny.

Well, maybe it’s a little funny.

I have had a pretty decent few days…lack of sleep is really the only downside.

Saturday, Brian and I shot a wedding over at the Bali Hai for some friends of his, Sage and Steve. It was a really beautiful wedding with a picturesque backdrop overlooking downtown and Shelter Island. The reception was really nice too, except that no one was dancing…except for maybe the bride and some of her bridesmaids. One in particular was REALLY cute (not at liberty to say which one)…but I will say she was absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, with a smile that could light up a room.

Unfortunately, we are filming her wedding in four weeks. :(

Our friend, Janelle from Sac, is in town. We picked her up at the train station Saturday evening and then along with the lovely Flor, we hit up Hooters for some wings and good times. After dinner, we tried heading to downtown, but it was so crazy that we decided just to head home and hit the hot tub up.

On Sunday, I played tour guide and showed off our beautiful city. We started with a tour of Point Loma and PLNU, then headed out to The Point and I showed off the lighthouse and Cabrillo Monument, then lunch at Gus’s. I love that place. It’s all about the toasted buns. And the crushed ice.

After picking up Brian and Flor, we headed out to Coronado to check out The Del and the beach and watch the sunset. We cruised Silver Strand and then back home for movies. We ended up watching the first Hawaii tape that Brian and I shot…I forgot, but those were definitely good times. And dude, we’re freakin’ funny.

I didn’t get to bed until about 3 because I ended up editing video late at night, so yesterday I was dragging a little. But I got off work yesterday early and took Janelle out to OB to watch the sunset. We took some pictures and then headed back to La Mesa for burgers at Fuddruckers. We literally rolled out of the restaurant because walking at this point was not possible. After buying some random accoutrements at WalMart, we went back and watched a movie. We both ended up passing out on the couches and I eventually went to bed after midnight. Good thing too, because we woke up at the crack of dawn to get Janelle to the airport. It should be illegal to have to wake up before the sun is up. I am so effing tired. The day is half over, though…but it’s sad that Janelle is gone. :(

Well, I have to get back to the office. More later, folks.

New reader

Filed under: Tech — Aaron @ 11:15 pm

I’m a huge blog fan. Not only do I enjoy writing, but I enjoy reading and I have my list of favorites that I frequent and visit on a daily basis. It’s good to know what’s going on in the world since I’m stuck in an office eight hours a day (at least for now. :) )

I’ve tried several different aggregators and news readers such as Bloglines, Thunderbird, and my current one, Newsgator. I love Newsgator…but I think I have fallen in love with another…Google’s new Google reader.

What I like about it, just like their Google Calendar, is that it’s all integrated into your Google homepage. Gmail, calendar appointments, and other tidbits are right at your fingertips. It’s a beautiful thing.

What I also like about their reader, other than the simplicity of it all, is the ability to play podcasts from within your browser window. So nice when you want to listen to a podcast while surfing the net.
Reader

I definitely encourage you to check it out if you have a Google account.

Skype Cracked?

Filed under: Business, News, Tech — Aaron @ 12:23 pm

I read about this on several blogs this morning, so I thought I would add mine to the list.

Skype Cracked? – Gizmodo

Seems that some Chinese dudes have cracked the protocol for Skype and they want to release their own version of the great communication software I know, love, and enjoy. They also claim that they can block Skype voice traffic.

Who knew that the Chinese were so lame? I don’t know anyone in China, so it’s not a huge loss for me. But what if I did and wanted to Skype them? That would suck.

China, why can’t we be friends?

Late night movies…

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 11:26 pm

“Your clothes. Give them to me.”

Not only a great movie quote, but a great pickup line that all girls can appreciate. Not only did the Terminator teach us how to pick up girls, but also that trench coats are great for hiding things like, oh I don’t know, sawed off shot guns perhaps? Do you know what else trench coats are good for? Hiding nakedness. I don’t know this from experience or anything like that…but travelling through time really eats up your clothes.

There were so many options on televison this evening. For instance, American Pie’s Band Camp taught us that…you really can only tell the same story 3 times. After that, it’s just a dude having fun with his dessert. But Arielle Kebbel definitely piques my attention. Do I feel a crush coming on?? Stay tuned.

Fahrenheit 9/11 was also on proving to us once again that Michael Moore’s cholesterol is up. This is the third time that I’ve tried watching that movie (and the first and last time I will ever admit to watching it.) For some reason, I can’t ever make it through all the way. I end up either loosing interest or falling asleep. It’s just all over the place and full of crap that I have trouble watching it all the way. But don’t feel bad, Mike…I rarely have the motivation to sit through good movies, let alone yours.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Today is Friday

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 8:17 am

I am seriously all kinds of screwed up. Not only has the lack of sleep in the last few days worked a number on me, but the day off in the middle of the week also had something to do with it. I was so out of it as I was diligently editing video last night, that I flopped on my bed for a nap at 8pm and woke up at 5 this morning. And to make matters worse, I didn’t even know what day it was. I was surprised to come in to work and find out that it was Friday. They really keep us in the loop on stuff like that here at the “W.”

So other than feeling all jacked and clueless, I think today is going to be a good day. :) I’ve got DMB pumping through my iPod and it’s payday. All my money is gone already, but at least I can eat for another two weeks.

In other news, I just need to give a shout out to the dude that parks two cars away from me at my apartment. I don’t know the guy, nor have I ever talked to him…but you have to give him props for knowing and being in the company of the world’s classiest chicks. You see, he’s got a pair of lacy girls’ panties hanging from the rearview mirror of his truck…a lacy, sparkly, turqoisy pair of boyshorts. You know the kind: almost a thong but almost a regular pair of underwear…the underwear that can’t decide what it wants to be or where it wants to go, but on the right bottom looks really nice? Yeah, that’s the kind.

But I figure you gotta know a classy dame to get hooked up like that. Not every girl will just let you hang her skivvies from your rear view mirror. Why can’t I meet a classy girl like that?

Creepy McGrits

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 10:19 am

We have a lot of fun at photo shoots…I think our models would agree, even though we seem a little crazy. :) But we always have a good time.

I made a little slideshow of behind the scenes pictures…you see, we try to incorporate Brian, the lighting and equipment man, into at least ONE shot with the model…and the results are hilarious. So this is a little show dedicated to the man behind the reflector.

There are WAY more funny pictures too, including ones of the model being goofy…but that’s a whole other slide show. We would be here all night! So until then, enjoy this one including Brian, the non-model and me, the photographer.

It’s amazing how neurotic I am. Here it is, two o’clock in the morning … and the fact that I had a pile of clean, neatly folded clothes sitting in the laundry basket instead of hanging in the closet in order of style and color was driving me crazy. It actually caused me to get up out of my comfortable bed and do something about it. Needless to say, after putting away my clothes, I tidied up my desk area, my little studio area, my photography area, and downloaded a couple podcasts.

Now I think I’m ready for bed.

Phish food

Filed under: News — Aaron @ 7:30 am

So I was admiring the work that is my blog and was noticing one of the sidebar news items from the Union Trib. It talked about how the latest email phishing scam craze was regarding tax refunds and the IRS. I blogged about this a while back, but I still think it’s funny that people actually think the IRS would try and track them down to give them money. It’s a nice poetic Robin Hood-esque thought…but seriously, this is the IRS. These are the people that suck all the zeros out of your paychecks and the ones who suck even more every April. It’s highly doubtful they would be giving YOU money. There, I’ve said my piece.
