I won’t dance
Why I is that Louis and Ella can almost always bring a smile to my face?

These are just a few of the interesting things I saw during my recent excursion to CostCo:

Reminded me of hot Kiwi in SacTown.

I like OtterPops. They are cool…literally.

Dirty. The word moist, although seemingly innocent, is probably one of the dirtiest words in the English language. Can you say it without blushing? I think not.
And just so you know, I’m enjoying my box of OtterPops. I have 199 left. If anyone wants one, just stop on by.

I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with me. I mean, I keep looking at the clock and the clock says it’s almost 4:30 in the morning…but yet I’m still awake. And if that wasn’t bad enough, I’m writing about it! Oh well…
I had a nice long day today…slept in until about one (no, I’m not a slacker…I just had a late Friday night) and then diligently began working on projects. Off and on…mostly on, though. :) I did this for most of the afternoon and then headed out to Petco Park with Abby, Flor, and Brian for the Padres/Mariners game. The game was alright…the highlight definitely had to be the ice cream…and of course the conversation with Meg and Janelle while in line for ice cream. Oh, and the 9th inning was pretty exciting too…we were starting to come back from ridiculously low score…and we hit two home runs back to back…and we even had bases loaded…but it just wasn’t enough to win the game. They gave a valiant effort, though.
The rest of the evening was spent exploring some of La Mesa’s finest local watering holes…We stumbled (not literally…yet…) into Jolt ‘n Joes Billiards over by the Vons off of University…a hop, skip, and jump away from our place. This place was nice and big, roomy, and with plenty of pool tables to keep you occupied. The bartender (as was the norm tonight) was pretty hot and the people were friendly. Flor kicked Brian’s butt at pool too…which is amazing since they both were pretty terrible. Definitely entertaining, though.
We hopped over to Shenanigan’s and found that place to be a nice little dive bar as well. And its close proximity to Filiberto’s makes for a great opportunity to get a California Burrito. (Shea would be so proud that I used “its” properly and didn’t go crazy with the apostrophes. It’s amazing how proper grammar and punctuation can have that affect on a woman. ;) ) But back to the subject at hand…a 3 dollar burrito is great, especially after you’ve bought a 2 centimeter hot dog for about ten bucks and a thimble of Coke for 5 bucks at a baseball park. Cheap is good.
Alright, I’m off to bed…here are some photos:

Oh, how happy I was when the clock struck 5 this evening. Yes, oh yes, it’s officially the weekend. What ever will I do with myself?
A funny little anecdote, however…I was leaving work and I hopped on the elevator, which is pretty unusual since I usually take the stairs. I don’t know, I feel like I’ve accomplished so much more when I hike up and down the three flights of stairs…but that’s another story. So anyway, I get on the box and there is a girl already in there coming down from the higher floors. She looks strangely like my ex-girlfriend: same brown, lifeless hair, some petite body structure. If I didn’t know better, I would pretty much say that it was her. But the real her lives in Oregon, so it can’t be her. But wait, it gets better, people…she walks like her too…in these humungous platform style flip flops that look like she took two big barges and strapped them to her feet.
So far, she is totally my ex. I mean, if it looks like a duck…
But here is the piece of resistance…she’s on her portable telephonic unit, clutched tight in her right hand and pressed so close to her head as if doing so would make the conversation she was having “more private.” She’s talking to someone I can only guess is her boyfriend, because she’s chewing him out for something and trying to be discrete about the fact that she’s going off on him.
So yes, that’s pretty much her. Down to the very disagreable demeanor I know all too well. I really feel for the poor sap on the other end of that phone. I was him once long ago…I feel his pain. I know his strife. I’ve had that very same conversation.
And so ends my little tale about water fowl.
=======
**I realize that my prose, although witty in nature, may be a bit confusing. Allow me to clarify that the girl in the elevator was not in fact my ex-girlfriend, but a cheap imitation. Although, the original isn’t all that “expensive” either, if you get my drift. And I think you do.

I’ve been MIA lately…but you probably already know that. It’s just that I’ve been busy. Let me see if I can recap you with some of the highlights…
A few weeks ago, we were graced with the lovely presence of Miss Megan Brittain. She shacked up with us and I pretty much enjoyed every minute of her stay, including driving her around town and escorting her to her Ephotique photo shoot. The photo shoot was awesome; they were recreating a couple Vargas pin-up pictures, so a better part of the morning was spent in hair and makeup, getting the lighting and the posing right, the camera angle, etc. A lot of work for just two pictures. I didn’t mind, however, since Kortney, the “big picture” gal was crazy hot. The studio is made up of a father daughter team; Kortney handles all the details, the posing, makeup, etc. while her dad, John, who is an amazing photographer and a nice guy as well handles the photography aspect. It was fun to watch and fun to talk shop with John a little after the shoot.
The next couple weeks were pretty non-eventful. NGS Media had several last minute gigs all at once and we were asked to shoot three high school programs; a choral/orchestra program at Mar Vista High School, a choir concert at Eastlake High School, and a dance program at Eastlake. All programs were really nicely put together so I am going to be editing these in the coming weeks.
And finally, this weekend, Brian and I drove up to Sacramento…the happiest place in the world. I’m not sure why, but the 7+ hour drive up the five is so worth it to be in the company of some of the most beautiful and sweetest girls on earth. But I’ll get to that in a minute…
Last fall, we were asked to photograph the wedding of one of Megan’s roommates, so we agreed and went up. I’ll spare the technical details in this post, but let me just say that shooting the wedding, my first time being the primary photographer, was definitely an experience. I think I did well, but there are a lot of areas that I could improve on. I could be more organized, have more equipment, and more people to help. But I loved working with the videographer, who was an exceptional guy, and the DJ; we all made a great team. The wedding was beautiful and fun, as most weddings are for me. The weather was exceptionally hot…and since it was outdoors for most of the day on one of the hottest days in Sacramento…and I was wearing a black suit, I don’t think I have to tell you how hot I was. Megan and I got back home after the wedding and basically collapsed in the middle of the living room. After my headache went away, we had some dinner and lounged around Casa Wieney. Later, hot roommates began to arrive…Janelle first, then Kiwi and Megan the Aussi.
On Sunday, we went to Cops Donuts only to find that they were closed for renovations. We were very sad. But we cruised the thrift store nearby and waited forever for a table at the Waffle Barn. I love waffles. *big grin* After our late breakfast/early lunch, we drove to downtown for an impromptu photo shoot with Megan and Janelle. Megan is currently working on her photography portfolio, so I was shooting along side Meg and watching the shoot. It was a lot of fun. I think we all got some great shots.
We delayed the inevitable as long as we could…but eventually, it was time to say goodbye and make the drive back. It was sad. I almost cried like a baby. Blubbered like an idiot. The hot wienies are so awesome…words can’t describe. A good time was had…the weekend was too short.
I can’t say, however, that I don’t feel like a little bit of a chump. Last month, I missed my cousin, Tara’s graduation from Pepperdine because I was in Hawaii. That pretty much sucked, even though I was lounging in paradise. But this weekend, my sister graduated from UCSD. College. My little sister (who ain’t so little) is a college grad. And I missed watching her get her diploma because I was out of town. That’s the downside of being so busy…you miss important things like that. But I hope there are no doubts, questions, or second-thoughts as to how proud I am of my sis and all that she’s done. She’s definitely a person I look up to…which is tough, since I think she got my mom’s short genes. But I’m so stinking proud of you, Nessa…you rock.
Now I have a ton of pictures (about a thousand) to go over, select, and edit for the newlyweds…special thanks to Megan for being a great assistant and second shooter (she got some amazing shots) and also for bringing me water and grapes during the wedding. I had to feed the grapes to myself, which of course isn’t as fun…but that’s okay. I also think the other programs as well as the weddings we have in the coming weeks will be keeping me busy too. It was so nice having the day off today…but back to the grind tomorrow. Ugh. Anyway, life is good…hope yours is too.
