You would think that today was Groundhog day…because it was just one of those days that you peer out from under the covers and wish that you could duck back in and hide from the day.

Some days, it just doesn’t pay to get out of bed.

It took me nearly an hour to get to work today. I live like 10 minutes away.

Thanks to my hero, Chrissy Russo, I probably would have never made it to work. But here I am, ready to tackle the day…complete with a huge headache.

Is it five yet?

Okay, I think I may be falling in love. Wasn’t Kellie so cute last night on American Idol?

But you guys already know how head-over-heels I am for Kellie … this week I bring new crush for y’all.

Ashley WilliamsThis season, I’m hooked on this show on CBS called How I Met Your Mother. (for another cool site, click here)It’s actually one of the better-written sitcoms on TV these days. You can’t help but fall in love with the ensemble cast, which include Neil Patrick Harris (aka Doogie Howser, MD) and Allyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and band camp girl from American Pie). Narrated by Bob Saget of Full House, it is a story about friends and a guy named Ted. These past couple weeks, Ted has been dating this REALLY cute girl named Victoria. And they met, ironically, at a wedding and seemed to really hit it off. I couldn’t put my finger on where I had seen Victoria before, but I did know that she was really hot. I pondered, and pondered, and pondered … and finally realized that I had seen her just a few weeks before in an episode of Monk. Although in that episode, she is playing a crazed, psychopathic murderer. She was still pretty, though.

After doing a little research, I found out that this cutie was actress Ashley Williams … and that her cute genes ran in the family. Her sister is Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who definitely got my attention as Annie Banks in the Father Of The Bride movies.

I chose Ashley as this week’s cutie for couple of reasons. For one, her character just left for culinary school in Germany. Who knows if her long-distance relationship with Ted will work? Will we ever see her again? Only the producers know …

But I think I also chose Ashley because of the little bit of her that she brings into the character. No matter how good the actress (or actor), you can tell some of the elements that they bring into the role … the elements that aren’t pretend. Victoria, in the show, has this sweet, genuine, “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” quality; but at the same time, you’re always wondering. Always guessing. Always pondering the mystery. Always finding something new. She has this little something that is undefined, but you know you want it. I guess you could say it’s my ideal girl, if there is such a thing. A little bit of sweetness and a little bit of mystery and excitement all rolled into one. Someone to get in trouble with and someone to be good with.

I guess that’s my ultimate quest … to find someone like that. I am doing great as a single guy … no complaints in that category … but I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be cool to find someone to be a dork with … but also be serious with. Heck, if we all could find someone like that we’d be so lucky.

I don’t know if any of you ever do this, but I like cruisin’. San Diego is such a beautiful place; and on weekends like this, it’s just fun to drive around to places you never really go. So that’s what I did. I drove around parts of old-school, ghetto San Diego that I usually never travel to.

Let me just say that I didn’t intend on driving around this morning…but I sort of got lost a bit. Not so much lost as “turned around.” But it was all good. I got to see a lot of the city I usually never get to see…some really old ethnically and culturally diverse places. Reminds me how big a place this is…and how really cool this city really is.

I spent a lot of my weekend all over the place…it’s really sort of a blur…

Despite the rain, I headed out to PB with Brian and schmoozed with some really cool people; model types and magazine people. My friend, Anjeanette, heads up sales and talent for a modeling and talent agency here in San Diego and so we met her and Paul, her company’s CEO (who happens to be a really cool guy), and several of their models at the Isola Lounge. It was a good time chatting, drinking, and getting to know people.

Afterwards, I met up with Keri C. for a late dinner and conversation which was pretty fun too…I don’t get to see that girl very often, and it’s nice when I do.

Saturday was a marathon. We went out to Presidio Park early and met up with Anjeanette and three of her models for a photo shoot. This was the first of hopefully many more shoots I will be doing with her company, Heartbreakers, Inc…and I was very pleased with the results. The photos were great, the models were amazing, and the backdrop and weather couldn’t have been more perfect (especially with the rain the night before). It was a great experience working with these really talented models…definitely good times.

Brian and I had a meeting with a client in the afternoon and we are getting excited and geared up for the wedding season that is rapidly approaching. I am thinking of adding wedding photography to our list of wedding videography services. I am really enjoying the still photography that I have been doing with models and portfolio work that I think it would be cool to add this new service.

After a meaty lunch at Gus’s (I love that place…), we had a shoot with our friend, Michele. These pictures blew me away. Now, I’m just pushing the button, so I don’t really have that much to do with how good these pics are…but dammit, they are good. It was all Michele. :) The pictures were fun and flirty and gorgeous.

I just about collapsed into bed last night, but it’s definitely been a fun weekend. I need to get back to work now…but I’m sure I’ll write more later. Night!

Naw, it will be okay. I hope.

I swiped a chair from an empty cubicle the other day to train with a colleague and I never took it back. Actually, I did the old switch-a-roo and I must say I am pleased with my choice. My old chair had nicer padding, but definitely wasn’t as ergonomic as this one is. I can adjust the back, the arm rests, and I am feeling much more erect.

I take advantage of every opportunity I have to use the word erect in a sentence.

Back to work I go…

Tonight I went out to the Hot Java Cafe to listen to my good friend, the lovely and talented Stephanie Cataldo.

And there are so many things wrong with what I just said.

First, I didn’t get to hear Stephanie; turns out, she went on before I got there. So I missed her amazing vocals and guitar playing. Second, I had a cold java; blended, not stirred.

I still had a good time listening to everyone else with Steph…there was an R & B dude who, in my humble opinion, rocked. There was also the guy who brought a little blues feel to that classic tune Hit Me Baby One More Time. And then there was the guy who looked like Dolph Lundgren — you know, the guy who kills Apollo Creed and nearly knocks out the Italian Stallion in Rocky IV? But let me tell you, this guy could play some guitar….dude. He played this celtic tune and his friend accompanied him on the box. His fingers were flying all over the fret-board. It was awesome.

And it was good to see Steph too. I PROMISE I am going to see her next time. Maybe later this month?? :)

I’m always amazed and people who play the box. I wish I could play the box. It’s quite the cool instrument, if I do say so myself.

I’ve been singing since I was a little brat and performing just as long. I majored in music for crying out loud…and I can’t think of a time that I was REALLY nervous about being in front of people doing my thing. But open mic nights frighten me. It’s really cool to see all these amazingly talented people get up in front of total strangers and do their thing.

Well, I start validating tomorrow…wish me luck!

This week, I’ve decided to have two crushes of the week, since I wasn’t able to write much last week. This week, we have two incredibly cute ladies that I would like to devote a post to…

Kellie Pickler: American Idol Cutie

I mentioned Kellie in a previous post about how she was definitely one of my favorites in this season’s competition. But seriously, who would have guessed that she’s so darn adorable?! And no, folks, it’s not just the looks-factor here…although, she is absolutely beautiful. No, I think the attraction comes from the genuine sweetness that just radiates from her. For instance, last night, she was talking about her California experiences. Her recounting of her dinner, which consisted of salad and calamari, was told with this innocence and a southern accent that would make any man melt. I know I went ga-ga…and I don’t go ga-ga very often.

Wait, who am I kidding??

But then she got up on stage and sang Bonnie Raitt’s Somthing To Talk About, which in my opinion was the perfect song for her voice. Fantastic.

So Kellie gets my vote any day of the week Idol is on…and every other day too. She can sing for me any time.

Sasha Cohen: American Ice Cutie

In the spirit of the Olympics (which I didn’t watch a lick of this year), I thought I would choose a girl that was not only cute, but someone who was a true champion. To be honest, there were a lot of really cute female athletes competing in this year’s Winter Olympics, so it was hard to choose just one girl. If I had my way (and my dad’s), I would have chosen the entire Women’s Curling Team. But alas, I can only choose a select few; and Sasha grabbed my attention last week as a true competitor.

Never mind that she fell, twice, during the first moments of her short program last week. But I was sitting in Jack in the Box, eating my Ciabatta Burger and reading the newspaper, and her picture was on the front page. She was standing on the podium with the other winners, looking very cute examining her silver medal. She gave it her all. Like every other athlete, I have a great deal of respect for Olympians. To be in the Olympics is to want to win. It takes a great deal of determination, discipline, passion, and hard work to even compete. I think that’s why I admire athletes like Sasha Cohen; they devote their lives to the sport and to being the best. To achieving their goal and making their dreams come true. Not only that, but Sasha looks good doing it. ;) It’s mesmerizing to watch her gracefully glide across the frozen water…almost like watching a little flame dance on a wick.

She also seems really sweet in the interviews she’s given as well as stuff I’ve read on her site. I look forward to seeing more of her in the future.

No, not like that…get your mind out of the gutter.
