In the dark

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 5:39 pm

So I’m sitting here reviewing conditions and listening to a little Incubus, when all of a sudden it dawns on me that I can hardly see anything. Yeah, we have our trusty flourescent lights going on, but it is drastically darker over by my desk because I sit next to the window.

This daylight savings time is screwy. Now I’m going to be all in the dark driving home. Well, maybe not. But it still weird.

Contentment

Well, here I am…post-lunch. And let me tell, it was good. It really is too bad that the internet doesn’t have smell-o-vision…because…mmmm. :)

But lunch was tasty. And it’s fun to say words like “tzatziki” and “spanakopita.”

I am feeling a little tired. This weekend was a little hectic. I had a last minute video that was needed by today; so, being the nice guy chump that I am, I stayed up late finishing it. But hey, that’s what friends are for, right? So at least that is behind me. But it consumed my entire evening last night.

I find that there are long periods of time I have absolutely no motivation to edit. Then, all of a sudden, I get the urge. And it’s a good feeling when I finish a project…but then, there’s always another one right after it. It’s a neverending cycle.

Anyway, I have to get back to work here. More later. I think I’m going to buy some cheese after work.

Meow?

I just went downstairs to deliver some documents to various closers, and I saw the HOTTEST Halloween cat I’ve ever seen. Meee-ow!

Now, it might have something to do with the fact that it’s like an oven on the entire second floor for some unknown reason. Or it may just be because Christine is pretty much hot all the time. ;)

Dude, it’s like walking into a frickin’ oven. They have all the doors open down there and it’s pretty much miserable. The air seems to be working up here on the third floor, which is definitely a good thing. :)

And I’m so excited for our Greek lunch today from Daphne’s.

The Survivor 2 blooper

Filed under: Random — Aaron @ 2:11 am

A few months ago, Brian, Saddler, and myself filmed Brian’s second Survivor application video. To recap, it was a spur of the moment shooting and it really had no direction until we actually started filming. All our previous ideas went out the window and we went a totally different direction with the concept.

In steps Saddler. As a last-minute favor, he steps in to play our James Lipton in a series of 20 questions for Brian. It was a dank, cold Point Loma night…and we were totally unprepared. It was by sheer luck I had lighting equipment in the back of my SUV…we just ran some extension cords out in front of the Commons and “voila!” a working set.

Josh was unprepared as well, wardrobe-wise, as he was donning a simple gray t-shirt. Totally unlike his counter-part. After filiming his series of questions, we began to strike the equipment…but were still rolling tape. We got Josh making some thoughtful comments about his shirt selection…until he realizes the camera is still rolling.

Maybe it was funny because it was late and we all were punchy. Maybe it was the slight haze and drizzle and moisture in the air. Or maybe it’s just because Josh is that funny of a guy.

I say “D: All of the above.”

Faith and Cocoa Krispies

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 7:14 am

Okay, something is totally wrong with this picture. It’s Saturday morning. It’s 7am and I’m awake. I’m eating Cocoa Krispies and watching CMT.

I just saw the video for “The Way You Love Me” and I have two observations. One, and the most obvious, is that Faith Hill is probably one of the hottest women ever. Two, that video makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. She’s in a car cutout in Hollywood, a kitchen, a 50’s diner, and standing in front of video screens in TIGHT black leather pants. What do all these things have to do with the song? Uh, yeah…

And it’s frickin freezing, Mr. Bigglesworth.

Stupid is as stupid does

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 9:10 am

I’m stupid. But those of you who know me already knew that. So we’ll just leave it at that. Let’s just say I have a brain, but sometimes I don’t use it…and that can be bad. It’s like having a really cool gadget and not using it. It’s like being really thirsty, and holding a tall glass of water in your hand…but choosing not to drink it. Stupid.

Let’s just say I will think longer next time.

In other news, I just walked out to my car because I had left my iPod in there…and there was a rock in my shoe. Quite unpleasant.

And for all you Laguna Beach fans, here’s a funny story…as I was walking out, the loading bay for the building I work at was full…and there were these two guys trying to back ANOTHER truck up to the bay. But the guy that was outside directing looked like LB Jason – a.k.a. “the player.”

Actually, he looked how I think Jason would look in like 15 years or so, with a receding hairline and a gut. But other than that, they could have been twins.

See where being a player will get you?

And speaking on the subject of guys, and girls, I received a fabulous email today. Pure word perfection. I hope she will let me share some of her thoughts on the nice guy thing on NiceGuySociety.com because it is just amazing. And, of course, brought a smile to my face today.

So I’m looking forward to the weekend. Should be nice, not necessarily low-key, but definitely fun. I’ll keep you posted. Now…back to your regularly scheduled Friday.

PS Oh, on a side note, I thought I would share that I’ve been annoying myself lately. I’m usually not a slob, but dude, my room is a sty! And my car…don’t even get my started…my baby hasn’t been washed in a couple of weeks. So, I know what I will be doing this weekend. My room may be a mess, but it’s an organized mess. I’ll clean it up tonight, don’t worry…but it makes me mad to know it’s there. One of my annoying little idiosyncrasies. But folks, trust me, nothing is as bad as the room I saw the other day…a Fact Finding Mission is in production, and let me tell you it is not for the weak stomached! Stay tuned!

Mad about Skype

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 11:11 am

Alright friends, this is probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever been excited about in a long time. I’m sure those of you in the know already know…but here it is…my official endorsement for Skype.

“What is Skype,” you may be asking yourselves. “And why should I be excited about it?”

The answer is simple.

Skype is a multi-dimensional messaging system. That sounds fancy and technologically advanced, but I just worded it that way to sound intelligent. It really is the future of communications. With Skype, you can instant message, file transfer, and make online phone calls. You can conference call or conference chat depending on your needs.

And the best part…it’s free. That’s right, free.

You download this program on your computer, provided your PC meets the minimum system requirements, and you are set to communicate with the world. It works best, of course, when more people are using the system; Brian and myself downloaded and set up the program on our machines and were instantly able to text message AND voice message. The voice messaging is just like talking on phone…but better and clearer. I was able to speak on my laptop’s microphone and hear myself on Brian’s speakers with crystal clear clarity. But the best part is that it was free…just like a telephone, but better.

The greatest advantage, of course, is for those people with friends and relatives miles away. For instance, I could communicate vocally with my friends overseas…for nothing at all…provided they have the Skype software and a microphone on their computers.

I see this eventually replacing conventional telephone services because you can do so much more with Skype.

For more information, visit www.skype.com and download Skype for the love of Mike. The more people that are on it, the more we can all call each other and communicate on the web.

Another great feature is that it’s another way people can ignore me and another way for girls not to return my phone calls. :)

So download it…add me (proudestmonkey619). Later.

**Update**

Thanks to trusty Josh, I almost forgot to mention some of the additional features of Skype that are cool, but that cost a little money.

When I say little, I mean little. Like, think Gary Coleman.

With Skype, you can make calls to landlines or cell phones from the internet, for a small fee. Additionally, Skype can provide you with voicemail service and an actual telephone number, depending on if you are going to be replacing your conventional phone service. I tell you, it’s the future! :)

Meaty Goodness

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 12:10 am

Well, I tried writing several times today, but I was just so busy doing actual work. Can you believe it? So, I’m making up for it by taking some time to write now.

Today has been a weird day; mostly because it was gray all day. But it’s been good … I got a little bit of editing done, had an excellent on-line conversation, and now I’m writing to you fine people, chugging on a meaty soda.

So, I had a good time listening to Jeff and Jer this morning. Those in the know, uh, know that I’m a Mexican food connoisseur. One of my favorite places to eat is a place in my hometown of Ramona … a little place I like to call La Cocina. The reason I call it “La Cocina” is because that’s its name. It means “the kitchen” in espanol. But it is one of the best Mexican restaurants in San Diego county, in my humble opinion. The 40 minute drive to Ramona is totally worth it; it is a drive I have made many times myself.

Well, Jeff and Jer were talking about going up to Ramona for Pop Warner football this weekend and after the game, they were looking for a place to eat. Someone suggested to them La Cocina, so how could they refuse? They had many good things to say about the food, which is definitely top notch. However, when they arrived at the restaurant, the owner came out and asked if any more people would be joining their party. There was about 10 of them already, so they replied that they didn’t think anyone else would be joining them. The owner replied, “Well, if there is anybody else, you have to call them and tell them to go someplace else.” She was totally serious, too.

To some, this might not make any sense. But to me? Yeah, it doesn’t make any sense to me either. But the sign on the door requested advanced notice for parties over 20. At least 48 hours. Perhaps they like to be prepared for large parties. Maybe they only have enough food for a certain number of people.

At least La Cocina got some airtime this morning. :) And made me hungry for an Aida Burrito.

For lunch today, I went to Submarina. My sandwich had avocado in it, which made life a little bit better. Whilst I was eating my sandwich, I noticed a girl walking into Sombreros next door. She was fairly cute, dark hair, and driving a BMW Z3. The interesting thing about this girl was her hair. As previously mentioned, her hair was dark and she had in a ponytail. This cute, poofy ponytail bobbed up and down with every step. Oh, and did I mention that she had a streak of blond going right down the middle of her head? Now, I know what you might be thinking … actually, she sort of reminded me of a cat. You know, the cat that Pepe le Pew used to always follow around. All these years, I wondered how Pepe could mistake that cat for a skunk. Now, it’s suddenly clear to me.

Continuing my string of random dreams, here’s another one for you. It nearly freaked me out, it was so random … I came home for lunch one day and everything was going great, except I ended up running a little late. I jumped in my car to head back to the office and my car stopped working. At this point, I’m freaking out because I don’t like to be late and the only alternate mode of transportation is this gigantic motorhome. The catch is this motorhome is in another part of town. It’s amazing how dreams work, isn’t it? So, I somehow get to where this motorhome is (which doesn’t make any sense), and we all hop in this motorhome. Now, I have absolutely no idea where we are or how to get back to work, so I must depend on others to get me there. The others: my sister, my friend James a.k.a Hawaiian Lust (whom I haven’t seen in years), and Seann William Scott (a.k.a. Stifler from the American Pie series and the Dukes of Hazzard). There might of been others, but I don’t remember that well. Stifler was the driver … and his driving, contrary to what you may have seen on Dukes Of Hazzard, sucked. We ended up in someone’s backyard, driving down random side streets. We almost tipped over. We had to sneak in some dude’s house for some reason, which is still a mystery to me. A 45 minute trip ended up taking about five hours. Talk about a long lunch. And that’s when I woke up. Thank God.

Well, I think I’m going to get to bed now. My meaty soda is gone and I am tired. So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night.

Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you.

No good

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:21 pm

Just like everyone else, it seems like it’s finally caught up to me. I am definitely feeling under the weather. A little feverish, the whole funky nose thing, the achiness. Not fun. But yet, I have to pull my butt out of bed in the morning and go to work. I might call in sick…I haven’t decided yet. But it has not been good times. :(

Well, since I’m sitting here looking and feeling pretty lazy, I thought I might as well do this survey since I’m not doing anything else. So, here it is, for your viewing pleasure … (more…)

The trend

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 11:48 pm

I guess I must be this magnet for inappropriateness today. Again, I’m not offended easily…I just think it’s funny that weird stuff is around every turn…

A few months ago, I was sitting at home alone on a Friday night (pathetic, I know…) and there was a ruckus about in the back yard. It was mostly hyena-esque laughter and loud-talking, but you could hear everything from my living room. It was a party or small gathering of some sort; and it lasted all night long. I finally had to call it a night because it was getting annoying.

Well, tonight was the same sort of deal. As I was chilling in the living room, I heard large amounts of laughter and this chick with one of the loudest voices ever. I decided to get a closer look, so I walked out on the deck and started to eavesdrop a little. Imagine my surprise when I discovered what kind of party it was.

It was a sex toy party. There was a group of people sitting out in back of this house, a sales lady who was talking abnormally loud, and a giant inflatable penis leaning up against the wall. She was explaining all the benefits to toys and the different types, etc. She seemed quite knowledgeable. If you were ever in the market for any sort of pleasure device, I’m sure she could hook you up.

However, I didn’t stay long enough to hear the sales pitch. I promptly left after a few minutes. Spaghetti was calling me. I also think any other dude in my shoes would head in the opposite direction after spotting a giant Johnson.

Anyway, gotta run. Iron chef is on. I’m not sure what’s on the menu tonight; perhaps spotted possum guts? Or maybe sea urchin? Maybe they’ll make ice cream out of eel. I can’t wait to find out.

Boy, is my face red

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 1:57 pm

I am usually not the type to get embarrassed or grossed out easily. As evidence, I reference the “Half Cat” incident from my PLNU days. Didn’t bother me. I also have a sister, so “girl talk” don’t bother me none neither.

But wow, talk about inappropriateness. I was sitting at Wendy’s just eating my lunch enjoying some alone time when a conversation struck up between a couple sitting a few tables away.

Taking into consideration the fact that they were a few tables away, I shouldn’t have been able to hear them at all over the soothing, mellowness of the muzak playing…but alas, I was able to hear them.

And I actually wasn’t that embarrased. But I think I would have been less embarrassed if I wasn’t eating lunch. Or if I wasn’t sitting in a Wendy’s restaurant. Or if I were a gynecologist.

I closed my eyes…

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 8:25 am

I’m sitting here gearing up for a massively productive day. Grrr. (In case you were wondering, that was my Tony the Tiger growl. It sounds more fierce in person :) )

But what is up with all this fog? And the trash truck that’s pulled over to the side of the bridge on the 805 right outside my window? Hmmm. My curiousity has gotten the better of me.

Okay, so he’s gotten out of his truck in his cool reflector vest and it appears as if he’s picking up trash. What a crappy job (literally). First, I don’t like trash and second, I hate heights. And I look horrible in yellow and orange.

Okay, so I had the most random night last night. I think it all started when I got home, popped on my iPod and lit a vanilla candle. I drifted in and out of sleep for about an hour and a half. When I finally realized I couldn’t teeter halfway between dreamland and reality anymore, I got up. I figured it would be a good idea to have dinner, but I’m in that phase right now where I don’t feel like eating. I know that isn’t good, but I just can bring myself to eat anything. But I did anyway and had a hot dog from Wienerschnitzel. Not the best choice for dinner, but I really wasn’t hungry to begin with. After eating and watching a little Who’s Line?, I decided to actually go to sleep; which is weird, since it wasn’t even really that late. Maybe like 11:30-ish. But that isn’t the most random part…

I woke up at about 2 am since I was thirsty, which is unusual in itself…but I had just been dreaming, which is REALLY unusual. I rarely have dreams…and when I do, I usually forget them. But basically, I was doing home improvement in an all-white room in a house that was supposedly mine, but I had never seen before. A handy friend was there, donning a pink hard hat and doing most of the work. And my mom was there too, which is strange. She was actually in a good mood too. After what seemed to be a long time, even though nothing appeared to be different (the room was still white), I woke up for water. Strange.

And now it’s Thursday, which is one day closer to Friday, which is one day closer to the weekend. That deserves a “heck yesss!”

Okay, now that I’ve officially been here for 24 minutes, I should probably do some actual work-related stuff. Catch yous later.

The Chair Incident

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 11:08 pm

I guess you could say I’m sort of a neat freak. Just replace “sort of” with “really.” Back in the day, there was a short period of time where I hadn’t put any thing away and it just got out of hand. This “short period of time” only lasted a few hours, but it is still a dark, sad moment in my life. I’m so ashamed.

This funk that I have been in has allowed a tiny little mountain of crap to form on my chair. Sure, I’ve tidied here and there, but I just haven’t had the motivation to do anything with it. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. Again, this is a dark, dark day. I think it’s the pillows that make it look worse than it really is. I look forward to the day I can actually sit again.

In other news, I went to Wal-Mart the other day and purchased a box of Twinkies. Twinkies are one of those rare delicacies. It doesn’t take much to please me. I’m a simple guy.

And starting to feel like people have forgotten about me. I’m still here. My e-mail in box is empty. Even the crap junk mail that I usually get is scarce these days. Very sad.

I’ve had a lot of my mind for the past several days. I’ve been wanting to write down some of the things I have been thinking, but I’m still piecing it altogether. Perhaps when I’m done piecing, I’ll fill you in. It’s some fascinating stuff, really it is.

And on that note, I think I will say “Farewell” for this evening. Farewell.

Grease is the word

Filed under: General — Aaron @ 10:58 am

Dude, it’s only 11am. The day is going by SO slow. It’s ridiculous. And if being bored wasn’t bad enough, I’m also starving! I’m making the trek up to Kearny Mesa today and meeting Sir Mounts for lunch.

Greasy Mexican food…I can’t wait! :)
