Beach competitors vie for sand dollars | The San Diego Union-Tribune

I told myself that today would be a great beach day…but although I didn’t make it out to the beach today, I thought i would post a story about some people that did.

It is so hot right now…and I’m not exactly sure why. Summer is here…that’s for sure. Gonna try and make it out to the beach next weekend maybe…we’ll see how the weather is. Hopefully it’s as nice as it was today.

OK … There were WAY too many cars out today. I have absolutely no idea what was going on today, but I do think of a lot of people should have stayed home. Even the drive home tonight was insane … It was 11:30 p.m. and there were still a lot of cars on the road. For the love.

Had a nice relaxing day today. Slept in a bit (well, a lot later than usual). Also did a little cleaning around the house. My dad and I spent the afternoon hanging out… drove up to Caramel Mountain Ranch and went to Carvin; I got some guitar picks. Then we went to Costco and I bought some cheese. I had really been needing a grilled cheese sandwich…so I made some.

Last night, some friends were over visiting so we saw Win A Date With Tad Hamilton … cute movie. Really cute girl.

Hopefully there won’t be so many people out tomorrow. We’ll see.

Well, there is just so much exciting things happening in the life of Aaron. For starters, work was just a hoot. Some exciting news … I have been selected as the “Blue Recycle Bin Monitor” In an effort increase security and reduce the likelihood of sensitive information being stolen by janitorial staff and other nosey people, we’re being told to lock up all files and paperwork with customer’s names on it. Considering that we have probably never had such incident, management is forcing us to take extreme precautions. In this day and age, where identity theft is a crime on the rise, you can never be too careful. My primary duty as the Blue Recycle Bin Monitor is to make sure each blue recycle bin is emptied every night. This is to prevent bad people from digging through our trash. Even though I have been assigned this very important duty, I’m not getting extra compensation. Oh no … I’m doing it because I am a nice guy.

In other news, I am happy to report that the construction next door is nearly complete. I must say the new look of Stumps is pretty good. However, Stump’s Apple Market is no longer … it is now Stump’s Family Marketplace. Maybe now I can sleep in past 5:30 without the racket of hammers and other construction-like equipment being operated.

I also folded some socks today. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they fold their socks. I used to ball mine up … but then I moved to the “pair-and-fold” method. However now, I almost do a sort half-fold … this allows the socks to stay together in the drawer but also allows me to quickly grab a pair and slip them on in no time at all. How do you fold your socks?

Well, I think I’ve successfully wasted a good amount of time writing this. It’s amazing how I can talk about nothing for so long. Most likely, you do not care about any of the things I’ve mentioned above and you probably feel dumber having read this entire entry. For that, I apologize. I hope some interesting things happen to me in the near future so that I may write about them and share them with you fine people. You will be happy to know that I’m slowly converting this site to a database-driven web site, so that is pretty cool. Check out my newly designed Links page and my Words page.

That is all for now. Good night.

One of my favorite things to do is watch cop shows with my dad. I can remember when I was younger, watching shows like COPS (of course), Adam-12, and my absolute favorite, Dragnet. Jack Webb is the man…with his walk, his stern demeanor, and his tell it like it is/just the fact’s ma’am style. Dragnet is by far the best police drama ever…especially for its time (circa 1950s-70s). I bought another Dragnet DVD today…but it has episodes from the 50s, which are still cool. One of the trademark things about the show is that after every major scene, Joe Friday always has a some sort of exhortation followed by a “dum dee dum dum.” And no matter what, my dad and I always look at each other. It’s the funniest thing. It’s not that Joe is incredibly deep or philosophical…but sometimes he just hits the nail on the head, you know? *smile* But it seriously is a great show…I actually want more episodes from the 60s to come out…those are some of my favorites.

For a great article on Dragnet, check this out.

I always love watching people watch my movies. For instance, the first time I had people watch my NGS Cops movie, I loved watching their reactions (good and bad). Months after I gave Jenny and Joanna their junior recital DVD, I loved talking to Jenny’s mom and hearing how much she loved it. And then Deanna…Brian and I got to watch a little of it with her…and I got such a kick out of her expressions and her favorite parts, etc. And then today, when I gave my grandparents the DVD of their 60th anniversary and they watched it with some of their friends, everyone had good things to say. And even though I had seen the footage way more times that I would have liked, it was neat to watch people watching it for the first time. I may not be the greatest videographer…actually, I know I’m not…but I like doing this kind of stuff for people and watching them enjoy the product. Makes me feel good about the time I put into things.

Well, it’s time for sleepy time. Night.

This is right next door to our offices (Union Bank) in Kearny Mesa. Apparently, the police got a report of a man with a gun, so surrounded the building. The told all of us UBOC-ers we had to stay in our building and lock the doors. We couldn’t even leave for lunch…and I was hungry! But when I finally did leave, I managed to snap some pics with my phone. Turns out the guy wasn’t even there. Oh well…the nachos I had for lunch were good anyway.

I’m so excited…my new Dell laptop finally came. I was starting to wonder if it would ever get here, considering I just ordered it last week. *grin* Dell really got it here fast…and so did UPS. I guess I really do have “brown” working for me. It’s really sweet too, but I will have to quickly write this…my battery is running low due to all the installing I’ve been doing tonight. I love new computers, but transferring all your settings from your old machine is a pain, even with XP.

I answered the phone at my grandparents’ house today and a really cute-sounding voice was on the other end. Her name was Tiffany, and she was a telemarketer (I learned this after her lengthy introduction). I thought I would go along with it since this is one of the few times a cute-sounding girl would call me. So, I told her I would take her survey and she proceeded to tell me that the survey was about beer…a beverage that I never endulge in. But for the sake of guys who never have cute-sounding girls call them, I went along with it and played the role of a party drinker. Most of the survey dealt with advertising and how certain brands made me “feel,” so I could honestly answer her questions based on my own knowledge and experience. After the 15 minute survey, I finally asked her, “You’ve just bombarded me with all these questions and now that you can’t influence my answers, you have to tell me what your favorite beer is. She replied with “Bud,” and my initial reaction was, “Okay, I’ll take that.” But when I asked, she got very adorably embarrassed and I could tell she was racking her brain and shifting in her seat. I don’t think anyone has ever asked her a question before during a survey. And I honestly don’t think she was a beer drinker either, that is if she was even legal age. I mean come one…who drinks Bud anyway? But it was fun playing around with her. I love messing with telemarketers…flirting with them is even more fun.

Well, I best get to bed. I’ve had an exciting day of processing loans. Good night for now.
