• Rainy Days and Mondays

I had a so-so day at work today. Funny thing…everyone knows beach front property is nice. Goodness, we all pay a fortune to live in the California sunshine. But 3.2 million dollars for 472 square-feet of house? Seriously…this place was a shanty. That deserves a “for the love.” And the guy buying the place needs a smack upside the head.

I finished the end credits and intro for my grandparents’ anniversary DVD. I’ve started the editing and have most of the service and the reception to edit. Shouldn’t take too long. I think this project, even though it’s so simple, is going to be one of my favorite projects to date. I am glad I can give something back to my grandparents who have given me so much and in a way have been like a second set of parents to me. I am still in awe…60 years together. My grandparents are incredible people…two of the finest examples of Christ’s love. Their devotion to their Lord and to their family and to each other is something I admire greatly. It really changes my perception of love.

Well, it is late and I need to get to bed. Until later.

    Go USA!

Courtney KupetsEver since I can remember, I have always loved watching gymnastics. My mom tried to get me into a class when I was younger…and I was like, “no way…gymnastics is for girls!” Now, I sort of wish I would have. I’m sure that girls go for the chiseled, rock hard guys, right? And the female gymnasts? I guess before it made sense that I thought they were cute…now, they are all a little small and a little too young. Still cute. But even more than that is their amazing ability to defy gravity. Tonight, NBC aired the Olympic Trials for gymnastics at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. I still sat there mystified at every event — the balance beam, the floor routine, vaulting, the uneven bars. It’s absolutely incredible how these athletes, as young as they are, have so much ability, grace, coordination, and strength. I am looking forward to the games this year in Athens, where we are sure to kick some booty. I like all the other summer games too. Summer is just my favorite season…all the best things are in summer.

Today, we celebrated a bunch of people’s birthdays — Brian, Mahina, Rebekah, etc. It was a good time seeing everyone; although, it was a bit chilly at Crown Point. But a good time nevertheless.

I also officially am a member…I got my very own CostCo Membership today. So now I will be partaking of the wholesale shopping experience. And hopefully meet a cute girl, while picking up a several pounds of meat, drink, and other items. I’ve always said how cute CostCo girls are…and now I have the opportunity to just cruise around when I have nothing better to do. Not that I would do that or anything…I’m not a loser. ha!

Well, I am off to bed. I just finished my KoolAid, which means it’s time for bed. Good night all.

60 Years Is A Long Time

Today we celebrated my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary. That’s a gosh-darn long time. I had a blast, shooting video and pictures and of course seeing relatives I haven’t seen in a long time…and relatives I’ve never even met. It was good to see my cousins Tara, Greg, and Barry…and my aunt Carolyn. And of course all the second and third cousins which are too numerous to name. Sometimes you forget how big your family is until you try and cram them all into one room. It was good to be surrounded by family. And I am starting to feel old. My “younger” cousins are no-so-young anymore. Tara, who just completed a year in Italy, is starting her junior year at Pepperdine University, my cousin Greg, who reminds me of his dad, just graduated high school last week, and Barry, my youngest cousin, even though he has a few more years of high school to go, it’s still pretty scary. 25 is old.

One thing I miss, though, is being around family. It’s hard, I will admit. It’s been very hard to cope with the void that’s left after a divorce. I get envious, jealous, sad, and all those other negative emotions when I see people with their families because I want that for myself. So it was really good to be with family today.

And on another note, I sincerely hope that one day I wil find a woman that can tolerate me sixty years.

Stay tuned for pictures later. Good night for now.

    Fact Finding Mission: Las Vegas

A lot happened on our trip to Vegas. Here are some of the details from our excursion…

    Trevor Hoffman is the man

I had the fortunate experience of tagging along to dinner and a ballgame with some of our Senior VP’s and our biggest wholesale clients tonight. Turns out the head of the division couldn’t make it, so they asked me to fill in. Crazy, huh? So, we went to dinner at Flemings and I had an excellent piece of meat and a couple different wines. And then we went to Petco Park for the Padres game. The first part of the game wasn’t terribly exciting…but the last part really got good, especially when they played Hells Bells and brought out Trevor Hoffman in the 9th. We won the game 3 to 1…and it was really cool to see him pitch an actual live game. And it was pretty neat to schmooze with some really cool businessmen.

I’m also glad that I was able to talk to Megs tonight too. I was driving home from the office and thought I would call her. It’s sort of sad that she’s leaving to go to school in Sacramento, but I didn’t ever see her anyway. But that too is sad. So, best of luck to her…we certainly will miss her down here. Whenever we needed a hot meal, someone to expose themselves, a tennis partner, “sexual liason”, or we needed a rent-a-cop, a crack whore, a gaffer (for video purposes) …she was there for us. And she will be missed.

    Back from Vegas

Had a relaxing week and weekend…hung out in Las Vegas from Wednesday through Saturday. Stay tuned for pictures and more details. Not too many details, though. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

    A Big Fan of Water

    Shower The People

I’m a big fan of H2O…but seriously…$120K?! Must be nice.

MSNBC – Court dismisses pledge suit

This is awesome. The Supreme Court may have come up with a quick remedy, but at least for now the pledge is safe. And why shouldn’t it be? I think it’s ridiculous to even oppose it in the first place. After all, America IS one nation under God. And sadly, I see our society slowly moving away from that. At least we have a grip on this for a little while longer.

    My Friend, The Journalist

I got an email from Simone today. It was really nice to hear from her. When we went out back in March (pathetic, I know…), she told me about this gig she had this summer with the Copley News Service in Washington D.C. for journalism. She told me that she would be writing for a local newspaper and I had forgotten all about it until I was Googling friends at work and found some articles she had written for the Union-Tribune. How cool is that?!? That girl amazes me…

Anyway, there are a few on the SignOnSanDiego website and various other places if anyone would like to read them…here are a few:

    My PHP Adventure

Don’t worry…for those of you who are thinking PCP, as in the drug, I am okay. PHP is not a drug. For those of you in the know, it stands for Hypertext Preprocessor, which is, server-side, HTML embedded scripting language used to create dynamic Web pages. Dynamic means less work and more stuff you can do with your pages, so I’ve been slowly revamping NiceGuySociety.com and creating databases for all of our site information. It’s actually pretty cool, once I got the hang of it. I was getting errors up the butt and the pages weren’t looking the way I wanted them to look. But I have the databases running, the pages looking nice, and everything is right with the world. Check them out, if you have the time. I put in a lot of work.

Well, I am hungry, so I am going to bid you farewell for now. Aidos!

    More Goofy

A few weeks ago, I sat down at my desk at home and to my surprise, found a little plastic Goofy standing on my computer monitor. “What a strange phenomenon!” I thought to myself. But, I gladly accepted him and made a little spot for him in the corner of my desk amongst many electronic gadgets. Now, I don’t know what transpired between last night when I left to go get dinner…because when I returned, I noticed that he had multiplied. Doubled. Goofy squared, if you will. So now there are two Goofys on my desk. I’m the richest boy in the world. Some people don’t even have ONE Goofy.

Well, back to work. Actually, in order to go BACK to work, one must have been working to begin with. And it is now 8:23…I’ve been at work for 23 minutes now and haven’t done a thing but check email. So I amend my previous statement…to work!

    MSNBC – Your Next Computer

    MSNBC – Your Next Computer

Are cell phones cool? Yeah. But I’m not sure about replacing the PC. Interesting stuff here, though.

    June Gloom

June Gloom has set in…it’s so hard to be happy when the weather is so obviously sad. We have this theory going about Californians and New Yorkers. A buddy of mine at work is from the east coast and he reports that there are a lot of miserable-looking people out there. We surmise it’s because the weather is always crappy. However, there are more joyful, productive, beautiful people out in California…and we attribute that to all the sun we get out here. The sun: it’s not just the basis of our solar system or a star approximately 93 million miles away from us. It’s the reason for our very happiness out here. And I want it back.

On the flip side, looks like the NGS may be splitting up…so-to-speak. Brian has been offered a room in a house in Clairemont with some other friends and looks like he’s taking it. Would give us our own rooms, which would be really nice…but yet, something sad about the splitting of the NGS. I’m pretty much over it now. But doesn’t it make you all misty when you think about it?

I’m thinking about what kind of sandwich I’m going to have for lunch today. The tough decisions we make in corporate America today.

    A productive weekend

Well, I have to admit that I got a lot done this weekend so far…including some much needed sleep. I sure hope that the people at UBOC don’t mind my taking a weekend off. God forbid! I have been sick, though, so the rest is doing me good.

I got a lot done on the web site tonight, so I am about to call it quits for the evening (morning). I made some modifications to my main page to include recent journal posts. Should be pretty cool…as it automatically updates. PHP is really a great tool!

Got to hang out with the dudes too…my dad and my grandpa went out to an early dinner and hung about the house while my grandma was shopping with friends. Nice and relaxing.

Also posted the first edition of NGS News…with many more to come.

And with that, I am out for the evening. Hope all is well.
