• A moment of peace and Joy

It’s been a relaxing, yet productive day. I did a half day at work this morning, which wasn’t too bad. My California burrito and me got through it. I came home and just sat around, which I haven’t been able to do in a while. Got some laundry done, did some work on the NGS website (which by the way, is really cool). So yeah, today has been a good day. I’m a little bummed that I missed Jars of Clay last night…they were performing at Spirit West Coast. And tomorrow (Sunday), Joy Williams is going to be there, so I’m sorta bummed about that one too.

I did do a lot of web surfing today, which is always fun…gives me new ideas for ways to update my own websites. I stumbled upon a video on Joy Williams’ web site that had been there for a while, but I hadn’t seen in a long time…reminds me why I want a girl like that. :) You should check it out…can’t wait for her next album. Nate is a lucky guy.

Oh yeah, so I made a flash photo rotation/main logo for the NGS main index page. It’s pretty fun. Again, I got the idea from surfing around the net…hope to add more flash to the NGS site as it is currently lacking flash. And hopefully we will get more people using the forums. It’s growing…slowly…but growing.

Well, I am going to get back to the rest of my weekend. Later.

    Gasping…

    Life…insane…need…a…

Ah, never mind. What I do need is a humungous burger of sorts to hold me over until dinner tonight. Grandma’s enchiladas are the best.

You will be pleased to know that in the midst of chaos, I am keeping my cool. And not just because of the air conditioning. And trust me, there is a lot to worry about…like the two drawers FULL of files just waiting to be worked on. Alright, I’m gonna run and grab a bite. Later skater.

    Bethany Dillon

Bethany DillonA funny thing happened while surfing the net today. You know what they say, one good site leads to another. I was looking at Derek Webb’s site (which by the way, his new album The House Show comes out June 8 ), and that led me to the Pixelgrazer website, which designs websites for a few groups such as Caedmon’s Call. Well, that led me to browse through some of their design projects, which led me to Bethany Dillon.

Bethany is another young, talented Christian artist. She has a great sound. And a great smile. See what I said about girls with cute smiles? A great smile makes the world a little better.

    Check her out.

    Old (and new) friends

Palm Zire 72It’s getting close to bed time, so I will make this short. I bought a new Palm today…the new Zire 72. It’s pretty sweet and should help keep me organized…at least more organized than before. I have serious issues when I go into Staples…I cannot go into that store unchaperoned. I end up buying stuff I don’t need. For the love.

I did have a surprise evening tonight…got to spend a little time with Mike and Kami Whitten who are in town for a few days. Mike and Kami both graduated from Point Loma with me and now live in Kansas. I also got to meet another Whitten, their 6 month old baby, Isaiah. What a cute kid! It brought about this rush of thoughts…I seriously don’t know what I would do if I had a kid. I mean, who really knows how to be a parent? I guess you just sort of take the good and the bad from your own parents, make it your own, and pray you don’t screw up. But holding a tiny baby in your arms is definitely a good thing. It made me think about what I would do if I was a parent…and to be honest, it scares me to death. Who knows…hopefully I’ll be a good papa.

    The Villagemen

Tonight was my concert at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe. We did a concert of sacred songs, some barbershop, contemporary, and gospel favorites. We, along with the Westwind Brass quintet performed for a crowd of about 200-300. A rather nice gathering. I really enjoyed myself these past few weeks. Singing is fun.

    Head in the clouds

I have been noticing lately that I have this fascination with clouds that I just can’t explain. My favorites are the big fluffy ones that look like balls of cotton. I’m not a huge fan of the ones that look like cotton that has been shredded and pulled apart…but hey, as long as the sky is blue, right?

It’s summertime, and that means everyone wants to come out and enjoy the sun. I don’t mind the cute girls coming out to the beach in their bikinis to hang out…I actually rather enjoy that. What really bugs me are the bugs that come out and chill. I hate bugs. Not that they did anything to me personally, but they are just annoying. We have buggy visitors at home, which reminded me of something I had heard about spiders. I heard that over your lifetime, you eat like a handful of them while you sleep and don’t even know it. And with that, I think I am going to start a list of things to ask God when I meet Him. Question #1: How many bugs did I actually eat during my lifetime?

Well, I just started out my long, busy weekend. The fun never ends. I had choir rehearsal this morning and I thought that I would come in to work and see if I can reach normal levels of insanity. More later.

    Time to say goodbye

Andrea Bocelli is the man. That’s all I have to say about that.

And in the spirit of this post’s title, I will say that I’m pondering…toying, if you will…about doing just that and making a small career change. That’s all I’ll say, however, because I like being ambiguous.

Well, I just finished configuring the forums for NiceGuySociety.com. I’m gonna get the guys to help test them out before inviting the masses to join in the messaging fun.

Watched Chasing Liberty tonight with Susan. I never realized how cute Mandy Moore is. But she is. That’s the truth.

More later. I am soooo glad tomorrow’s Friday. It’s been one of the longest weeks in the history of time. Bye.

    Singing our hearts out

Jasmine TriasI came home tonight after choir and was sort of bummed. I made it home just in time to catch the last 12 minutes of American Idol. I had been on the edge of my seat in anticipation of who would be cut tonight…and alas, it was my favorite…the cutie from Hawaii, Jasmine Trias. I think Fantasia and Diana are amazing too…it will be a hard call next week for the finale…but it was just so sad to see Jasmine go. That girl has so much potential and a beautiful voice. She could sing to me anytime. But that smile. For the love…I’m a sucker for girls with cute smiles. All you girls with cute smiles out there, write that down. It may come in handy down the road.

And speaking of singing, I think this is the first time I’ve mentioned that I’m in a choir. Finally… but only until Sunday. I’ve been singing for a few weeks with them; a special all male choir called the Villagemen at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe. After a long day at work, it’s nice to take the relaxing drive through the fancy-shmancy part of Del Mar and then sing for an hour and a half with a bunch of dudes. Fun times. Our concert is this Sunday night if anyone cares to go. It’s good to be singing again…it’s funny how you miss those little things in your life. I really had missed singing in a choir. I think I might find another singing outlet once this choir is over.

As always, I will write more later. Good night.

    A breath of air

Well, today was a good Monday…I still have piles of files left over from the weekend (my coming in yesterday did absolutely nothing to help…but that’s okay). The best part of today was that I was able to have a somewhat normal evening…enjoyable. It’s one of the first evenings I’ve had free in while. I like those kind…after a long day at work and an even longer drive in traffic, I like to come home and unwind…play a little guitar, schmooze with the guys, veg in front of the television (although, I don’t do that too much). Good times. I was able to rock out on my guitar a little today.

Also, posted some pics of the Madrigal Dinner in the photo gallery. Check ‘em out. I really need to get working on the video. Speaking of videos, my mini documentary of Danny’s last day with Transit is now up and on the web. Check it out at the Nice Guy Society site.

Well, I’m too tired to write anything deep and inspiring right now. Good night!

    At work…On Sunday

I thought before I dive into this mountain of files on my desk at work, I would post a little something. Yes, I am at work on Sunday…because I slept nearly all day yesterday. Is that a crime? For the love. So yes, I am forced to come in on Sunday. I had a nice day yesterday, though…slept well into the afternoon, hung out a little with pop, watched a little tv (Gilmore Girls DVD came in the mail, so I was able to watch the first episode for the first time. Very cool.) Well, back to work…

    Working late…

I have completed some minor site updates, including my Projects page and main page. Hope to be adding some new features to the site such as improving the guestbook. Also would like to add a forum/bulletin board to NiceGuySociety.com. When I have some free time, I will start on that…I have many video projects in progress as well.

…listening to the smooth sounds of John Mayer…and since it’s 3 am, I should probably start thinking about bed. I know I should go in to work tomorrow, but I am feeling so lazy. I might just skip and go in on Sunday. We will see how I feel in the morning.

Sort of bittersweet…just thinking about how another year has gone by. Congratulations to all the Point Loma grads that will be walking in Commencement tomorrow.

    Testing

i am attempting to post from my cell phone. Hopefully this will get there. Bye!

    RLD Padres Night

Had a blast at the Padres game tonight…got to go at the last minute with the gang from the Residential Lending Department. Great time! Not only did the Pads win tonight, but so did the Lakers. Woo-hoo. Great ending to a terribly LONG, drawn out day. I am so ready for the weekend. I’ll post pictures soon. Here’s a pic of the field.
    Petco Park

This is my first entry here, so be checking back for more things to come. Still trying to figure out the whole PHP thing as well as the mobile blogging feature (which I can’t seem to get to work. I feel like an idiot!).

    Sweet dreams…I’m off to bed.
